About
The Cluanie Inn is located in the remote wilderness of the picturesque Glen Shiel on the way to the Isle of Skye. This mountain inn reflects much of the Highland’s unique rustic charm with character-filled rooms that are spacious and cozy. The Inn serves hearty scrumptious meals and the warmth of the crackling log fires in the lobby will make you feel right at home. Each of the 18 rooms has a distinct character that reflects the wilderness lifestyle of the Highlands with warm bold colors, rustic wooden floors and complementary furniture. For those wanting to relax, unique rooms feature a Jacuzzi or sauna. The bedrooms with attached bathroom are comfortable and well furnished with super king or zip-and-link beds, soft down linen and hospitality trays. There is also a drying room for windswept hill walkers and ample free parking space on-site. The Cluanie Inn is a beacon for those who want to experience the majestic grandeur of the dramatic Glen Shiel. The Cluanie Bar and Kitchen serves mountain-inspired cuisine, a menu of impressive hearty classics like burgers, ribs and steak, and international favorites in a lively and casual ambiance where travelers and locals gather to enjoy the well-stocked bar. Landour Bakehouse is a bakery and patisserie housed in an old-fashioned Bothy, located across from The Cluanie Inn and serves a delicious array of unique handmade cakes, pastries and sandwiches, some of which are from recipes dating back to the late 1890’s. One can stop by for a quick take-away or enjoy stuffed croissants, scones, muffins, puddings and other tasty goodies while gazing at dramatic views of the Highland wilderness. Cons -
- The hotel advertised on Google as free breakfast but when I was there their staff said we have to pay for the breakfast. I don't mind to pay for breakfast but not ÃÂã16. 00 per child. It was unbelievable. I will never again come back to this Cluanie Inn.
- The rooms are not sound proof, you can hear everything in the rooms next door from using the bathroom to conversations. Also anyone in the hallway outside walking past, it’s quite loud.

Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff. Stunning location.
We had a wonderful stay at The Cluanie Inn on our way to the Isle of Skye. The setting is breathtaking, with stunning Highland views all around, making it the perfect stopover to break up the journey. The inn itself is warm and welcoming, with comfortable rooms and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was hearty and delicious, just what you’d hope for after a day of travelling through the Highlands.A real highlight for us was the Highland coo farm right outside. It was such a delightful and unexpected surprise, especially for our toddler, who was absolutely enchanted by seeing the cows up close. It added a really special memory to our trip.
The Inn is amazing, there is everything that you need in one place. The rooms are amazing, beds very comfortable and the added in room bathroom makes the stay comfortable. The restaurant has amazing food and the breakfast bar in the morning is lovely. From the moment you enter everyone from the staff is very friendly and explains everything, no hesitation if you need any help. The location is easy to access with plenty of parking space, and the views of the mountains were the best view to wake up to.
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
Nice location near the valley. Room is comfortable but nothing too exciting. Stuff was helpful when we found ticks on us after our hike on a mountain that day (it’s a tick season in Scotland at the moment). Great breakfast and dinner. The leaving room area was nice as well.
+ Amazing views+ Good location along the A87 road (perfect stop when traveling further to the Isle of Skye)+ Super friendly and helpful staff+ Good restaurant on site (we also loved the option to pre-book our dinner so it'd wait for us when we arrive - great option!)+ Nice decor with countryside vibes+ Free parking
We loved everything and would definitely stay at this place again.
The staff were excellent, all very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was spotless and it was really great to see a wheelchair accessible bathroom done stylishly. We had a bonus of a deer coming to graze outside our window just before bed!
The walls could be better soundproofed. We could hear a good bit from just normal activity in the next room but thankfully the corridors are well laid out to keep any other sources of noise to a minimum.
Family two rooms with three comfortable beds and creaky floors. Good shower. Clean. Ok food in the restaurant slanted towards Indian cooking. Good chips. Decent chicken biryani. Friendly staff
Very creaky floors. Very average breakfast. Serve yourself, Fair coffee. Prices expensive. Isolated location.
The Inn was lovely. A very warm and welcoming atmosphere inside. The rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. We loved the very friendly staff and the manager was awesome. The surrounding nature was astonishing.
The outdoor flies at night.
Spectacular. The staff, everyone one of them, are polite and friendly and professional. They make you feel comfortable. The setting of this Inn is stunning. The food is fantastic. I had dinner, breakfast then came back for lunch after a hike. This is a truly unique place that is run wonderfully.
Love everything about this charming Inn.
This was a surprising highlight. Beautiful location. It’s a remote highland locations, but excellent stopping point on our travels as we headed to skye. We stayed in the quad room in the annexed building, huge room, very clean and comfortable. Well equipped with some special touches. The breakfast Buffett was superb. We really enjoyed our dinner meals too and we ended up stopping for takeaway a few days later as we drove back through the area. Very kind and accommodating staff too.
It’s a little overpriced, for room and food, but considering the remote area we don’t regret spending the money.
- Great breakfast- Choice of food for dinner- Cozy room- Pretty location (and building) although isolated- Private parking (although quite exposed by the side of the main road without any fence)
- turned out to be a very expensive dinner (but good)
Everything. The views were stunning. The staff was incredible. The food was exceptional. It was isolated but still central enough to what we wanted to experience.
Difficulty getting bags up stairs. Need dumbwaiter
Location. Great quad room. Excellent breakfast buffet. Friendly helpful staff
The staff were very friendly and the location is beautiful. Breakfast/Dinner was great and if needed they have gas pumps on site. The room we had was very comfortable.
No issues to report
The service was great the ppl are so nice! it was my boyfriend i asked them if we can have a piece of cake to surprise him and they offered the cake on the house and even an update for our room that I did not expected! The hotel is really beautiful and clean, the food is also amazing!I will always return there if i have the chance!
Remote location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast
Absolutely no soundproofing between the bedrooms. If you like knowing all about your neighbours it's great as the wall are paper thin and every detail comes through. Restaurant is expensive
