    Pros +

    • Clean , warm , good facilities , free WiFi , good breakfast
    • Kitchen was great, staff was very friendly, and George the cat was there to say hello.
    • There are plenty of areas in the hostel for you to feel comfortable outside of your own particular dorm or bedroom. The hostel has a lounge where everyone is very welcome to go and sit as well as a games room and also a workspace area with benches around the wall where you can plug your device in.The staff are very friendly, kind and informative.

    Cons -

    • The bed was very uncomfortable , mattress extremely soft and unsupportive .Decor in room and bathroom poor .Water did not drain from sink in bathroom causing it to overflow .Room design poor , reading light on opposite side of room

    • There were no lifts to move the luggage upstairs

Room was clean, kitchen was really big and the common areas were nice. It was very easy to walk to Inverness city centre.

Angel ( I believe was the staff when I arrived). VERY helpful and patient with all my questions.

Personal opinion, certain questions should be asked of customers upon arrival. Ask incoming guests if they snore. 3 of us to a room, fine. One guest snored SO violently the two remaining guests got NO SLEEP AT ALL. Horrendous.

We loved the building and the location was great. The staff were friendly and helpful and kitchen was spacious. Parking was easy.

Not a big deal, but our family group was 4 females and one male. We were on the side of the building next to the male bathrooms, so had to walk through the stairwell to the other side to use the female ones.

4☆ accommodation, SYHA vary from place to place, all good, this hostel is a very nice hostel indeed and large in capacity. Enjoy.

Personally nothing. If you are new to hostelling you may find that the transition between hotelling and hostilling is perhaps a step down, however if you are a socialite then be prepared to meet people from virtually every country each with their own story to tell.

The space was clean and quiet. Everyone was friendly. The kitchen was big and comfortable.

I am not sure. Everything was fine

It’s a big hostel. It has some amenities useful, like the kitchen. The personal was very kind and pay attention to all my needs.

The hostel is big and well-equipped. The water pressure in the shower is good and the water is hot. There is a kitchen and a common room. There is a cat on the sofa. The staff are friendly.

The bed was not comfortable. The room was dated. There was a hole in the window and it was freezing. The heating in the bathroom didn't work and it was freezing. The light by my bed was not working

My first time staying at Inverness Youth Hostel as I’ve stayed in other hostels, I thought I would give this one a try. Unfortunately I didn’t know the staff names that I met {sorry}. All were very helpful, polite & friendly, I enjoyed my room only it was cosy, with lots of space, shower was ok, given the fact others are using the water supply. Overall my room was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was a basic continental which was good. You are not far from the city centre which is fantastic.

I don’t like being critical given I have written a positive overall picture of my stay. My room was directly above the sitting/kitchen area that was fine because you are living in a hostel. I didn’t like the fact that my bed was back to back with male showers which is not ideal, people having showers after 11pm not great when you want to sleep. I know that’s being picky, if the bed was moved to the other side of the room then it wouldn’t be an issue. It has not put me off staying in the future but I would prefer a little quieter room to which I would ask before hand as I didn’t know the layout of the hostel before staying.

Liked the location as its about 15 minutes away from the train station and the city centre. Room was cosy and clean. Shout out to Lola who made my stay welcoming and giving me great advice about what to see and do around Inverness :)

My only complaint would be there was only two plug sockets (plus 2 USB sockets) for charging per room

    8AbbiePosted on: 1-3-2026

The staff were all friendly, and liked the cat that visits. There were female only dorms which I am very happy about and there are at least separate showers as well. The breakfast was small but good value for money. The bed was quite comfortable to sleep in.

There doesn’t seem to be enough plug sockets in my dorm and had to charge my phone away from my bed.

Everything worked. Lovely and quiet. Good kitchen facilities.

Beds were not the most comfortable.

Good location. Well equipped kitchen. Friendly staff

Rooms felt too small for six people.

    Staff, location

Not enough cupboards , 6 bed dorm had only 4 cupboards and 2 sockets. The bed light wasn't functioning

Not a lot to dislike but location wasn't the best.....
