    Pros +

    • Breakfast was poor and we got food poisoning
    • The location and staff were on point and a true credit to the hotel!
    • Not much, other than the fact that the shower was adequate.

    Cons -

    • Service was shoddy, food was not good and we were bitten by bed bugs
    • The room was a bit of a shambles. The curtains were broken and shambled. the carpet stained. The bathroom grout was mildewed. Greatly disappointed.
    • The pictures on Booking on which we based the decision to spend 244 GBP was of a lovely room with golf course view. Well the first room we were shown had no view and a fire staircase to look at. The second room, which was the only other choice was small with a small bed and in front of the building. View on the parking lot and an adjacent appartement building. We could hear voices at night and in the morning. We had made a reservation at Grenshaw restaurant. Based on our initial disappointment we decided to check it out and arranged for a table with a view on the golf course. Well after we dropped our belongings in the room we went downstairs and the table we were told was ours was given to someone else. Needless to say I was fuming at that point and shared my frustration with the lack of performance. We were given another table and our server turned out to be someone with zero personality and no interest in taken care of his guests. All in all the only awful experience of our 8 days in Scotland. We will also file a complaint with Booking.com as we do not mind paying full price but not for a lousy experience.

Large room, lovely view of the golf course, friendly staff, and wonderful access to the beach as well as village of Dornach.

The rooms have seen better days. No lift, and overheated breakfast room.

    Excellent

The weather was hotter than normal and the lack of air conditioning was evident. Also an elevator for the theupper floors would be a great addition bringing suitcases to the room.

Nice old hotel well maintained. Beautiful views over the golf course. Had a nice dinner, the restaurant has windows that look out onto the course.

Great location, breakfast and bar. Excellent service.

    9LouisePosted on: 6-16-2025

Beautiful location, lovely spacious suite, excellent food and friendly service. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Close proximity to the town of Dornoch and right on the footsteps of the Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Great views of the golf course and a quick hop to get to the golf course or town. Loved being able to walk down to breakfast or dinner without having to leave the property. Friendly staff. Easy on-site parking.

Service at the restaurant was slow. Perhaps a bit understaffed? Food was good but could be better. Didn’t understand how the heating in the room worked. If the sun didn’t warm up the room, it was cold.

The staff where excellent and helpful and the room was comfortable and big, with a lovely bath to relax from all the sightseeing. Great location near the beach in a nice village.

    The ambience and hotel views.

We couldn't find the source of a extractor fan noise which kept us awake.

We stayed in the Ross Suite, their best room. It’s huge with an excellent view to the sea over the golf course. Friendly staff, great location, splendid breakfast choice. It’s slightly ‘Dated’ but in excellent condition. Would recommmend.

    No issues. All good.

    9KatjaPosted on: 4-29-2025

Great location, excellent views. Great breakfast. Lovely staff.

    10RachelPosted on: 4-28-2025

The location is great, just a short walk into Dornoch which is beautiful. The views over the golf course out to sea are fantastic. The rooms are very comfortable, but the staff make this hotel. All of them were so friendly & would go out of their way to help.

    There was nothing to dislike.

    10LindaPosted on: 4-24-2025

The room was very comfortable. The restaurant served delicious meals

I mentioned it the front desk, perhaps you could have a standing mirror or one on the wall somewhere located by an outlet. There was no where to do my hair in front of a mirror.Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

    9WendyPosted on: 4-23-2025

Just as expected - stylishly decorated, views of the golf course and coast, pretty village, very comfortable and friendly staff.

The sloping floor in the bathroom - very off putting!

    6EdwinaPosted on: 4-23-2025

It was on the golf course and close to local amenities.

The furnishings were old and tired. The rooms would have benefited from having a small fridge. The breakfast was not good and dinner was okay.

    9DeonPosted on: 4-22-2025

Location, staff and food was excellent

Was out of our room from 09:00 until about 12:45 and when we came back the room still wasn’t cleaned although we displayed our ‘room free sign’. All we wanted was our rubbish taken out and clean towels. It meant we then couldn’t have this done as went out for lunch and had to leave our dog in room. But saying this we still had an excellent stay.

Location. Friendly and helpful team. Great food.

    Nothing not to like.

    7RhonaPosted on: 4-21-2025

The breakfast was great first day but poor quantity and quality on the Sunday morning. Got the impression kitchen had run out of supplies

No night cap available when we came back from our celebration. We also found out that someone had been allowed into our room to collect items held by us for my son’s wedding so but we were not aware that they had requested access
