About

A landmark hotel in Scotland’s biggest, most vibrant city, Glasgow’s Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel and Spa combines the elegance of a stately 19th-century Georgian townhouse with the luxe modern amenities of a five-star property. Celebrated for its superior service, well-loved Spa at Blythswood Square, unique event venues and spacious rooms that feel both grand and grounded. The restaurant, iasg, named after the Gaelic word for fish, serves seafood from the waters of Scotland in the most sustainable way possible. Whether you’re indulging in a celebratory seafood dinner, a quick bite to eat, or leisurely weekend drinks sound-tracked by our resident DJs, everyone will feel at home. The five-star property continues to define Glaswegian luxury as the only hotel in the city with AA accreditation. And you can’t beat the location—private gardens right outside the doors, with the city center just beyond.

    • We stayed for our 1st year wedding anniversary and were blown away with a lovely card and chocolates that were in the room on arrival, the room was stunning and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We went for dinner in the restaurant and the meals were outstanding and worth the price. We would definitely recommend and we will be back. We also were able to use the facilities e.g the spa, although we didnt have have any treatments we had an excellent time, found the spa clean and tidy. Thank you Kimpton Blythswood for the wonderful stay.
    • Breakfast was lovely alot of choice. Nice dining room.
    • The building is beautiful and the rooms are lovely. The welcome drinks served on our arrival were a nice touch.

    Cons -

    • Not shown to room at check in and receptionist not very welcoming.
    • The breakfast and dinner area is not well organised. The space is small and struggles to cope with the number of guests. There should be a separate bar area away from the restaurant. We also found the hotel hard to find with the postcode.
    • Main restaurant was closed and the spa upgrade didn't seem much different ice room still closed and a few hot bedsnot working I had a leg injury there is not enough relax beds or seated area for the amount of people allowed in

    Rather underwhelming…… last stayed here...

I didn’t like the fact that I checked in at 4pm and my premium room still wasn’t available. We had plans, that made waiting another 30 minutes or more to see if it was ready, were not possible. Ended up in a basement room and offered complimentary breakfast (£52), which neither myself or my young son took up as didn’t suit our plans( hadn’t booked for breakfast for this reason). No offer of monetary refund for room downgrade, as the price for said room on Sunday was more expensive than what I paid earlier in the week. A manager was apparently notified of the situation, but have heard nothing.Slightest disappointed too, that the only area within the hotel to socialise in, was closing at 10.45pm

Good size room and nice restaurant

They sell the spa and tell you to come down in your robe and slippers but there weren’t any in the room. Room was clean mostly, lovely white, ironed sheets, clean bathroom but a few stains on the carpet. Could have done with those slippers. Doorman got me a black can to the airport. His mate who turned the meter off and said fixed price £40. Not very classy. Loved the breakfast and lunch and very friendly on the reception desk. Great location.

The overnight stay was perfect! The staff were so helpful and the spa was lovely and so relaxing, had room service breakfast brought to our room staff went above and beyond and the hotel is central to everything. Amazing stay

Let guests know beforehand when 'wine hour 'is...Breakfast was disappointing...full Scottish..egg yolks like bullets....must have been on the hotplate for a while...surely a fresh fried egg can be done.. takes 2mins!!Room great but very small shower space..Great small extras

Past experience both here and in Edinburgh had been positive, we were looking for a comfortable stopover.

We arrived after midnight, exhausted, having explained we had a large German shepherd, in the room on the fourth floor was a tiny toy dog bowl we had to keep filling and small bed. The bathroom was not entirely clean with smears on the tap. When we woke I hoped for a swim (one of the reasons we had paid a premium price) but I was told the spa always closes at 9 am and would be closed all day. Breakfast was wretched - we had to wait outside for 20 mins and by the time we could get in a few stale muffins left - I couldn’t summon the will to order anything else. The coffee was good and the waitress slightly insanely cheerful. For us £360 was a lot to pay for a night and apart from the hall decor it was simply bad value for us. They offered us an extra hour in the room but I couldn’t see why you’d want it. It used to be a special place, now I wish I’d donated to charity and stayed somewhere mainstream instead.

    Location and staff

It was an exceptional 4 star hotel. The feeling was that they ticked the boxes to get 5 stars but fell short of the 5 star experience.Would stay again because staff were very good and location.

I paid for a Garden view, the amount of noise was so terrible. They had drag raising occurring and it was so loud that the front desk gave me free room service. It was so beyond loud I had never had such noise in my entire life. They tried to make up for it. The toilet broke and a nice Israeli worker came in to fix it. overall I would not at all recommend this hotel.

The hotel staff were so so friendly! The food at breakfast fantastic. Not so gone on the evening meal! Spa and small pool are incredible. Please note it is only available in early morning and evening 5pm until 8pm

Evening menu is not great and alot of oil on the fish dishes.

    Lovely hotel.

I booked a specific room for the bathroom as I’m a creator. We paid a massive amount of money for this and we got a bathroom with no mirror all black. Completely different from the bathroom in the room’s pictures.

Breakfast was excellent, and I didn’t want to leave my bed it was so comfortable

Probably not a practical ask, but a small cold plunge pool is always an amazing complement to back-to-back sauna sessions.

Rooms were well equipped. Excellent shower and bathing products. Good heating/cooling system. Comfortable bed and pillows. Free soft drinks in mini bar.

Location, helpful and nice staff, resturant and bar, and style and interior I think it’s one of the best in Glasgow
