Pros +
- Not much
- Accommodation
- The Location was great, the staff was great, The beds were sort-of comfortable (the mattress was, but I had to pay extra money to get a bottom bunk - which are handspan off the floor - making it difficult to sit on, get in, get out of.)
Cons -
- No Heat, One bed.. just a cot type mattress.. so tiny. I could go on
- 106 leaking from roof
- 1) No electric kettle for hot water: a basic expectation in the UK. 2) The Door Locks were broken - with a majority of guests having to come get the card re-imprinted to get the door lock to work. (Safestay pays its employees to waste time rather than fix the locks) I had to hike up to the 3rd floor 3-4x more than needed because the lock never worked.3) The Lounge (and only common space) closes after 22:30 - leaving no where to sit - including your own bed. Terrible for a Digital Nomad who works late at night. 4) Everything was an up-charge (tea, water, towels, lower bunk, etc......)5) no common kitchen (no fridge, no food storage)6) no laundry 7) Breakfast was expensive and meager ($10 = toast, cereal, yoghurt, sliced cheese, weak coffee)8) No venting in the rooms (my room smelled like a wrestling gym). the bathroom didn't vent. 9) Shower was lukewarm at best, leaked through the night, and had no shower door - causing the floor to get soaked making post-shower activities difficult10) the power in the lounge did not work - and the few plugs that did, have a power phasing issue - causing damage to my computer. (I had to get it repaired)

People seem to generally be quite and respectful, and facilities are about as clean as you can hope for in a hostel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Paul gave some great recommendations as I headed out to Edinburgh. I had a great stay.
Location, nice staff
Other guests in my room were loud but thats not something the staff can do anything about so its okay. Shower also brokenin the middle of the night and could not be fixed
location was alright although it got very noisy at night. think there’s a bar or smth around
everything. i was supposed to stay there for 3 nights and only stayed for 1. the bathroom was so gross. no shower curtain or bath mat or hand towel which meant there was water everywhere. the floors were so gross. there was stuff stuck to it and there was hair and dirt everywhere. the beds move a LOT. didn’t feel very stable at all. their check in time is at 3pm and i got there at 3:30 - exhausted, and they hadn’t finished my room yet.
The curtains were great to have especially because I was heading to bed early for an early flight! I always appreciate having a locker for my belongings and the shower/toilet were in the same room which was nice.
Bed weren't very comfortable, room was fairly bright with street lights outside but curtains helped a lot, rooms had 10 people so fairly noisy and hard to sleep. Large bug in the bathroom.
Big en suite bathroom in the 6 bed female only dorm. curtains around bunks for privacy.
It was a bit run down. Kinda old.
Never again.
Downton Abbey playing on endless loop in common room is not my idea of fun. Better to just turn off the TV if they're not going to trust guests with the remote. No kitchen facilities or even access to a kettle. But you can buy cup of tepid water for 50p. Parsimonious or what.
Price, location.
Small size of wardrobe (lockers). Many lockers broken.
Late check-in was possible, which was great! The beds were comfy and very decent shower, would definitely recommend.
Great location for bars, restaurants and the OVO hydro
Location and staff were excellent. Room was basic but very clean.
Smokers were out on the steps most of the night and very loud.
Good location, plenty nearby
Building site right outside the window but that's not their fault
I arrived by bus and the hostel is not too far from the bus station about 10-15 minute walk. I arrived a little after noon and was able to check in early for an additional cost. I did not spend too much time at the hostel as there is so much to do within walking distance. Rooms had plenty of space and beds had curtains and were pretty comfortable. Reception also gave really great recommendations for things to do and great places to eat at.
Rooms were fairly spacious but not a lot of room for luggage so most people stored luggage along the wall but did not get in the way of guests. The hostel is along a busy road but the noise wasn't too bad.
Nice staff, everything was super clean. The bathroom in our room was super spacious
The four person bunk room was bare bones, the single was very comfortable. Stayed two different times. Lobby can get very social, but my bunk was nearest to that space and I couldn't hear anything, so good soundproofing. Good place for Travellers to meet
In room storage for the bunk would be nice. The window was stuck shut too, with 4 ppl can be tough. Hot water cost money, which was a bummer.
I liked the bed curtains, light and outlet options.
The shower head was broken and the bathrooms were not as clean as I liked. The lockers were also pretty beat up.
Nice older building. We were able to drop off our luggage to be stored until check in time. This allowed us to explore the city without carrying full backpacks.
There were no fridges or shelves to store food in, no place to cook food, no real kitchen. It was unlike other hostels in that regard. The common room was small had no comfortable chairs. It did not provide that nice hostel feel where travellers could meet and share stories, or play a game of chess. Etc.
A twenty minute walk to Buchanan St and the heart of downtown Glasgow.
The hostel is extremely rundown and in serious need of renovation. The bunk beds are very low to the ground. A thin mattress a metre off the ground. You literally roll off the bed onto the floor. The bunks themselves are just pieces of metal screwed together. There is a small window that provides some air but not much. The owners should get rid of the chairs and replace them with a desk.. Some pictures on the wall to make it feel more like a home.. while the hallways are freshly painted, no care was taken in the rooms. Lots of chipped paint and scratched walls. That should be the top priority. The locker don't lock. There's not even a place to secure your belongings.
