Location:Great imposing location on the estuary mouth, which is atmospheric from a bleak perspectiveThey have a carpark, so parking is available Staff:Without exception all staff were polite & friendlyRooms:They have family rooms, which is helpful when you have two children and need a stop over travelling Restaurant: reports they “pride ourselves on the quality of ingredients and high standards ofservice” and our dinner (we chose coconut crumbed haddock) was very nice. The views over the spooky/bleak estuary from the window was nice
Location: they could enhance their garden access, for example they have steps leading down to grounds fenced off, and there is mess around like old bits of wood etc. There was also a broken wine bottle by the outside balcony at 5pm which further suggests they were neglecting ground work as it would have been there from the night before.Rooms: no temperature control so its either cold or the radiator is on and it got too hot waking us at night. The bed was a bit springy and the remote control for the TV was dirty. Νo smart tv or access to netflix. The bed was springy and the duvet covers were a little lacking in feelings of comfort. Restaurant: they “pride themselves on the quality of their ingredients” yet put a highly processed vanilla ice cream (with colourings) on the sticky toffee pudding, whilst using a better quality one with no colouring for the individually purchased vanilla. They replaced it on mentioned it, but why penny pinch like this? Just charge 50p more as their restaurant isn’t cheap anyway.Breakfast: They can’t actually “pride themselves” on breakfast ingredients as most items are of poor quality and/or highly processed. From the pastries, to the nature of the sausage/bacon, to the concentrate orange juice which tasted 50% water. Worse was the coffee, only filtered available which tasted like the cheapest cash and carry dirt. Owners need to recognise that quality breakfast is a key part of the stay and if they want to encourage return or repeat business, they need to match the quality offered in the general restaurant.
This is a lovely hotel and very comfortable- food is great and staff always friendly and welcoming- stunning views from the bar windows across the estuary - I like staying here when I am working the area with my job
Very good breakfast, with a beautiful view on the sea. Staff very friendly
Breakfast was disappointing but having flagged this with reception they offered to refund the late check in/out requested. Also fairly sure I had requested a double bed and not 2 singles stuck together which I have not got a response about.
Food is poor and facilities are in desperate need of a refurbishment.
Brilliant location, beautiful views and staff are always amazing.
Decoration a bit outdated
hotel itself is tired but charmingroom was fine, very clean bed and bathroom etc, good spacehousekeeping staff delightful and helpfulmattress a bit lumpy could do with a topper or replacing
bar/restaurant staff on the 1st night were rather apathetic, service not greatcoffee out of a motorway service station machine, should be barista coffee for what the hotel is chargingReception either not manned or the lady there was polite but mostly uninterested
Excellent location with views across the channel, good walks within the grounds, pleasant helpful staff, comfortable and roomy day room lounges, quiet and relaxing stay. Victorian decoration large and spacious rooms with large modern windows.
Only one small problem where there was not enough milk within the room for an additional cup of tea/coffee each. This was easily resolved by the reception, but if arriving late this service may not have been available
View from room. Good breakfast
It would have been nice to have bottled water in the room and a coffee machine. Also, the heated towel rail did not work
It was a beautiful building and it was very comfortable. We upgraded to a sea view and it was worth it. The view was very calm and enchanting
Nothing. It was all good
Great location with amazing sea views
Breakfast could have had more choice.
again a lovely stay - all the staff are so helpful and friendly - the food in the bar was excellent - i like this hotel it has stunning views over the Severn towards wales and nice to look out of the bar windows and look at
Location Parking. All staff very welcomingGood food choice and quality Excellent room and view
A minor point but there was No variation in Dinner menu
The view and location.Great breakfast
Herendous smell of drains from bathroom filtering into room. All seemed quite antiquated and needed a lick of paint and new carpet in corridors
Quality of service. Views from hotel. Car park. Food. Plenty of room in bedroom. Plenty of hot water in shower. Lift to floors. Walking distance to pier.
Low mains water pressure in hand basin. Absence of non-slip bath mat.
Breakfast was standard but nice
Customer service, old, dated worn , dirty, extremely cold
All the staff were very welcoming and professional. The view from the room was very good across the Bristol ChannelBreakfast was good and reasonably priced
The staff were friendly. The situation of the hotel is pretty. The room was adequately spacious. I also appreciated having a bath, as well as a shower.
The bed was creaking, when moved in bed during the night. Also there was an outlet for a central heating system which let out exhaust fumes just below our window, and made dull noise, more noticeable at night when it was quiet. The hot tap at the sink swiveled around when trying to turn off the water. It just needed tightening.
