    Pros +

    Cons -

    • Hostel is in need of renovation, redecoration and furniture replacing
    • The place could use a deep cleaning, but as another guest said - you get what you pay for.
    • Honestly one of the worst sleeps I’ve ever had at a hostel. And to make it all worse, I was in a private room. The management needs to do huge renovations to this place for it to be considered by me ever again. Throughout the night, even in room eight the private room, you can only hear people stomping around the establishment and entering rooms next door. The building is so old and cricketty I’m sure that if they just made very easy fixes this problem would go away. Also the floor was so horribly dirty, no one had mopped the floor, which is surprising as it is a wood floor and realistically should be done every couple of stays. This floor was very clearly not mopped for over 5 stays and I could see the stains from the previous guests shoes.

Incredible cost for a lovely experience. Great availability of facilities, with constant support from the staff. Amazing cleanliness, safety, comfort, location; everything about Lagan Backpackers is great.

The property was in a decent location in town. In the middle of the student properties and near queens university Belfast.

The staff are very friendly and really do their best to make your stay as comfortable as it can be. The rooms and facilities are clean. The bed mattress is comfortable.

The bathroom is a bit small considering the size of the place and the showers are not in the best shape. The water tepterature is quite hard to regulate.

I asked people to be quiet in the dorm and they complained and I got kicked out. They lost my clothes too! And still no refund!

Mike at the reception desk is a nice and friendly gentleman. Very helpful and patiently explain the details to me.

Cannot take a shower. Seems to have had this problem for a while.

Everything was so good. A little bit far from the city center, but there was a bus can arrive directly. Others was so excellent. The manager was so friendly and helpful

The staff were great, it had a well equipped guest kitchen and a comfy lounge with its sofa and easy chais.

There were only 3 toilets for 48 beds, and the one on he ground floor was technically a Staff toilet but we were allowed to use it.The location is a bit out of the city although you can walk to local pubs and a tesco express. There is a 7a bus just over a block away and there that takes you to city center. The building is pretty old and lacks things like a shelf by your bed or plug in’s but for the price it was pretty good. The coil mattress was uncomfortable, I ended up putting my quilt under the sheet to add some padding and just slept with the duvet as it was quite warm.

A decent hostel in a quiet location. I enjoyed the tv room.

Some of the beds feel very open, as in the middle of the room. So not super private but it is a hostel so it’s okay.

The price and the location..The kitchen is big and has all that you want

I was hoping to get a single bed in a five bed dorm..But was put in a 6 bed dorm and I had to sleep on top bunk..I was grand getting up to sleep but with my bad knees I found it very difficult to get down in the morning and stumble and fell in against the wardrobe..I left shortly after breakfast so I didn’t have to get up again..

The property was not clean and tidy, Staff was not cooperative they just gave me the blanket and bedsheet told me to make it by yourself. Afterall i paid the amount and get no good service, Bed was dirty and had bug bites. Never gonna come back and stay in there.

Friendly people, very welcoming staff, close to the centre of Belfast

    Bed was not very comfy

Not much. There was only one power point which was nowhere near the mirror, so couldn’t use it to dry my hair.7

It is very old, not clean, it is expensive for what u r offering. I stayed in a backpackers in Stuttgart for $40 a night cheaper, plus it included breakfast.I also had a private room with my own bathroom ( not shared).

The mattress was a bit dark brown, and the next day I noticed scratches on my body. I later realized I had been bitten by bed bugs. The room clearly needs to be disinfected. Honestly, it didn’t feel very clean.

    Location was good

Ugly room. Not cleaned at all.People were making noise entire night.. and keeping the lights on... Staff must enforce the house rules on all residents. People were not respecting the rules around no-noise after 11pm, and lights should remain off after 11pm.

I am genuinely very confused as to the ratings on this place. This was by far the worst place I've ever stayed unfortunately. The staff were all extremely nice but over all the facilities are just completely dirty and in some ways unsafe. I arrived and checked in and then was shown my room. There was one person already there sleeping even though check in had only opened 10 minutes earlier. There were clearly supposed to be curtains hanging to separate the beds but there was just one left half hanging. I went to put my stuff down and found that the lockers were both broken and also would not fit any kind of normal size backpack. I then went to pick a bed and found that all of the sheets were dirty, stained and even had something on them despite the beds clearly having been made. There were also stains all over the walls and after being there for 10 minutes I decided I couldn't stay there unfortunately and left without a refund just asking to be checked out because I felt genuinely unsafe in such dirty conditions. Overall although the staff seems genuinely very nice and kind the facilities are just not recommendable at all. I slept on the Belfast airport floor the night before and it was better than this hostel unfortunately.
