21 House of Stories was possibly the hotel with the best value-for-money I’ve stayed in in recent years (and I travel a lot). Attention to detail, big beds (American sizes), a great included breakfast, free water and candies available at all times, spotlessly clean rooms, and it’s very close to the subway so you can get anywhere easily (though you can also walk to the city center if you’re a strong walker). But the real value is the staff: they genuinely love their job and go above and beyond to make you happy. A special shout-out to Roberto (who is there every night!). Ciao!!!

The room was very new and comfortable, no nasty carpet like some older hotels. They included snacks and water in the room which is a nice touch. There is also a water station. Having breakfast included was also nice. The location is fine, not right besides the metro but walkable and there are stores and restaurants close by.

The breakfast is served on the coworking space so that means communal tables for the most part. It was weird that they provided a kettle but the only outlets that worked for it were near the floor.

Property is located in a nice residential area only 8 minutes walk to the Piola subway station (M3) which in turn is 3 stops from Milan Centrale train station. Breakfast buffet was terrific and provided ample choices. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.

Guests were limited to one cappuccino at breakfast which was disappointing. I think this is probably a function of the staff preparing the espresso drinks instead of having a self service machine. Although the staff did their best to fix the problem, there was no temperature control in my room and it was quite warm (25°C = 77°F) at night.

No air conditioning, made it difficult to keep room at a comfortable temperature. This was the only negative and otherwise it is a great hotel

The lift is painfully slow.

Clean rooms with nice added touches like some free snacks and drinks in the room, nice amenities and a very nice breakfast with a lot of home baked goods.

Very nice location, about 15 min walk from the main railway station. Friendly staff, nice breakfast, I also had dinner twice there - great food and fast service!

Clean & modern. Had ample facilities throughout the hotel - laundry, kitchen, bar etc. TV had Netflix & YouTube etc as well as standard TV channels.Metro line Piola (Green) about a five minute walk away for easy access around the city.Overall good stay. Room a little pokey, but modern & clean.

Just about value for money in my opinion - I wouldn’t have wanted to have paid much more to stay here.

Loved the free breakfast and Happy Hour. Liked the comfort of the couches, the warmth of the place, and staff was wonderful.

Indeed, the involvement of the entire staff is a truly unique feature. Responses to any matter are immediate. Very comfortable beds and delicious breakfasts. A solid shower — it looks like a standard shower cabin, but it is extremely clean, stable, and works perfectly.

A small warning for those traveling in winter. The hotel does not heat the rooms before the guest’s arrival. When we entered our rooms (we were there in January 2026), the temperature was 16.5°C. After inserting the key card into the reader, the heating started, but it took about 2 hours to reach 20°C.In my opinion, a warm room should be ready and waiting for the guest upon arrival. Fortunately, the Italian wine we bought in the city center saved the situation
