Pros +
- It's a fun, quirky, well-designed hotel in an excellent location and staff who go well beyond what's required. My parents appreciated access to a lift, there was a welcome gift, and the staff walked with us out to our taxi in the dark, early morning.
- Kris was an awesome host. Rooms were modern, albeit small. Personalized note in the room was appreciated (with Heineken!). Mattress and pillows were very good. Breakfast at main building was great.
- Super convenient- not more than a 10-20 min walk to all the areas one would want to visit. Right off of main pedestrian/shopping area with great stores. Tram right outside. Beds were comfy. Toilet separate from shower/sink. Staff was lovely.
Cons -
- Rooms were small (although known at time of booking).
- Room for 3 was very cramped. Did not like decor theme of our room which was Home Theater. It was dark & dreary. No rugs so in winter room felt very cold & unwelcoming. Need to make the room cozier & brighten up. No closet nor dresser. Our luggage took up every ounce of floor space so it was stressful. Check-in & breakfast is in another building. Breakfast was nothing fabulous. Decent. No view.
- More TV channels, a wider choice.

Such a wonderful stay at The Highland House Hotel in Amsterdam! Each room has its own unique theme. Stayed in the Music Room, super comfortable and spotlessly clean. A special thank you to Kris and Valentina, who went above and beyond before and during our visit. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything we needed.
Breakfast was hot and self served.
More TV channels, a wider choice.
Great location, near shops & restaurants. Staff is very warm & helpful. Room was very clean with a “game” theme.
There are 2 steep steps to enter the property. It was a challenge to get luggage in & out.
The location was perfect. The staff were very helpful and nice.Room very nice.
Was not clean under the beds, also, One towel was very worn to the point of being very torn.
Location is great
Room is so tiny you keep hitting your feet on the chair because it sticks out. Floors really cold as there is no rug or anything.
Perfect location for everything , excellent customer service, very clean, very delicious breakfast, Chris , customer service person was super helpful, very welcoming, friendly, he explained everything and recommended places to go around Amsterdam.
Everything was wonderful
The beds the location the staff the bathroom
Room was clean, comfortable bed, great location and friendly and helpful staff
Cost was a bit high for small room
The location was great and easy to access the train station!
The accommodations were not up to standards for cleanliness. Additionally the sign in the room said that there were complimentary drinks in the fridge, however, the only thing in the fridge was a half eaten sandwich from the previous guest.
Room was well designed and clean, quiet despite being in a central location.
I arrived at 6pm and could not enter the hotel, the reception was closed and no one answered the door or phone when I called. I waited over 30 minutes trying to get in until finally I was told I needed to go to a different hotel to check in to this hotel. In the meantime, the hotel is in front of a nonstop coffee house with a strong smell and smoke of weed in your face, which I needed to deal with until I got in and every time we came and went. After looking closer, there are many more hotels with lower prices and a proper lobby, reception and services that this hotel was lacking, despite its high cost.
Room was adorable and well-equipped with everything we needed- except an iron and ironing board - BUT, I went to the front desk to request them and they delivered one immediately. Location was good.
Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were fun- each has a different theme and the decor is tasteful and creative.
Great location! Friendly, helpful staff! Cute, well sticked rooms! Prosecco for us in the room! Breakfast!
The hotel is clean and the location is perfect
The room is very small and the hotel itself is very narrow stairs and corrider the stuff leaves very early
Off the Main Street which made it quiet but centrally located. The historic building made it so charming loved the room decor
Good overall location.
Room was not clean - plenty of dust.Room safe was not secured to the cabinet, and was therefore not used at all.On one day, whilst the room was made up, the coffee cup were not washed at all.General poor attention to detail in the room.Poor quality coffee.
