    Pros +

    • Great location
    • Location, servis, breakfast
    • Perfect situation for station & Amsterdam centre.

    Cons -

    • The room assigned had stools inside the toilet. The smell made me throw up instantly. The toilet was not properly flushing . I had to go to reception and the staff had to see the room. Then, I was able to change rooms. Very disgusting.
    • Only one thing. No heating in the bathroom
    • The bread for the breakfast was expired or bad

Clean room comfy bed and lovely staff

A little cold in the room

My room was at the top of the hotel and though compact, was thoughtfully designed with comfortable bedding. Breakfast was included and was very good. Location is excellent - less than 10 mins walk to the centre. The staff were kind and friendly. It is clear that a lot of work goes into the running of this hotel and I would come back.

There's not a lot I didn't like! For its price and given that accommodation in Amsterdam is expensive, this was good. If the shower could have been a little warmer, that would have been even better still! (it wasn't cold, but warm). This is a minor point though.

The staff were great. The room clean and tidy, bathroom small but good shower, towels changed every day and bed made. Secure room for luggage. Breakfast had good choice.

Very good for 3 star property can’t fault it.

The location is so good, a few minute walk from the train station. The staff were so friendly.

The room was very small. There was a smell from the drain in the shower when we arrived first but once we ran the shower it went away.

Clean, comfortable, quiet. Perfect for the location also! Staff was so friendly and helped us in every way possible, allowed us to store our suitcases after check out so we didnt need to drag them around the city for 5 hours! Highly recommend, we will be back! Thank you very much

    comfy bed

The fan in the bathroom wouldn't go off - so there was a noise all night.

Location excellent. Quiet streets. Fair price. Breakfast was fair and adequate. Staff were lovely and helpful.

Cramped bathroom, steep stairs to 3rd floor, and awkard for carrying luggage. Litter outside was really very bad and bought the area down considerbly.

Lovely location, close to the train station and overlooking the canal. Good short, circular routes for running, just opposite.

It was formally the home of a famous Dutch sea captain, De Ruyter, and consequently is a traditional old house. We loved this, but as we tend to take the stairs rather than the lift, they were extremely narrow and steep. Also steps to the front door.

Location was superb, it was clean, we got our room early.

Staff were lovely and helpful. The location was great for us - even in freezing cold weather museums were less than 30 mins walk, restaurants 10 to 15 mins walk and varied.

Rooms were small but we had a large wardrobe. Knowing weather was going to be cold we had lots (and lots!) of layers to wear. Only 6 hangers, but we brought several more. The tiling in the bathroom had some patches of mould, particularly under the hooks where you were encouraged to keep your towels for the next day.... great to have hooks but needs checking regularly when covered with towels?

Good location, near the station and about 15 minute walk to Dam Square. The room is little but comfortable enough. The breakfast was quite good, fresh croissants , fruits, cheese.

The bathroom was cold, no heater, no van , so there was very humid, everything was wet , the towels could not get dry at all.

    Close to city centre

We stayed in basement and from very early morning some loud noises came from upstrairs

We liked the location of City hotel within an easy reach of walking distance to Amsterdam Centraal Train station and pick up point of daily tour buses.Breakfast was very good. Especially ny comparison to that of those I stayed two other hotels in a few days, it was the best!Staff and the manager were quite friendly and helpful.

The ropm was rather narrow. But I realized that the owner or the manager of the hotel cannot renovate the hotel building without getting permission from the related authorities. Because almost all the buildings in the historical old town district, it is strictly not allowed to change especially the facade of the historical heritage buildings alın the canals.Shortly, I didn’t like the space of the room but enjoyed the authenticity of the historical building with a canal view.

    Location and staff

The room - low ceilings and raised bathroom floor. I kept hitting my head every time I used the bathroom.

    9MichaelPosted on: 1-25-2026

The staff was fantastic no matter who was working the young Ukrainian lad was very polite, only issue was the shower room was cold but not a problem for me just the other half lol

    8LalitPosted on: 1-18-2026

The location was away from the main streets with heavy traffic potentially keeping you up at night.

There was not a very good footpath leading to the hotel but thats the local council issue rather than the hotel’s
