Pros +
- Location and the staff was great
- The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Blackout curtains. People were kind and helpful, they arranged for me to check in earlier. Location is great too.
- We loved our pretty, cozy room. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the location was also very easy to get around the city even on foot.
Cons -
- It’s a bit old needs renovation. Stairs are nightmare if you are carrying a big luggage or have knee problems.
- The room was smaller than in the photos and the window view was obstructed. Early hours of the night can be a little noisy as the hotel is on a street with bars however the noise stopped later in the night.
- The stairs are very steep.

Great location, clean rooms and nice staff!
Location and helpful staff
Haven’t slept in a twin bed in some time
We liked the room and location. Our room was large enough and our friend’s room was even larger. The staff was always friendly. We appreciated the fruit and water that was always available for free
There is no elevator. Staff helped up with our luggage, so it was fine.
First, the staff was so welcoming! They even gave a sweet parting gift at check out. The room was very spacious. The location was perfect, central to everything and amongst a fun, bustling area of bars and restaurants.
There was construction being done to the facade of the hotel blocking our view, but can't blame them for keeping up the place.
✅ Excellent location — right in the heart of Amsterdam, close to everything: canals, restaurants, and main attractions.✅ Perfect spot to truly experience local life and walk everywhere easily.
☹️ The noise was absolutely unbearable. Rooms on the street side are impossible to sleep in : from 8 PM until 2 AM, it’s constant shouting, music, and bottles being collected. It literally feels like trying to sleep inside a bar. The hotel gives earplugs, but they are completely useless. This is by far the biggest problem, and I strongly advise future guests to avoid street-facing rooms☹️ The bed was terrible — old, soft, and uneven. Sheets were thin, with small holes, and didn’t feel clean.☹️ The room was tired and neglected — stains, visible pipes, a bit of mold, and faded towels. It really needs renovation.☹️ Housekeeping did the bare minimum: bed made, towels changed, but no real cleaning. They even put the used coffee sachet back in the cup.☹️ Shower had very weak pressure and unstable temperature.☹️ Walls are so thin you hear everything — neighbors talking, coughing, even the toilets.☹️ There were scaffolds and covered stairs for construction works that weren’t mentioned online.☹️ The safe is way too small to be useful.☹️ Overall, the price is really too high for the comfort offered.
Super nice and helpful staff. They were around even beyond the advertised desk hours. Thank you for a wonderful experience. The location is also perfect, steps away from Rembrandtplein.
There is some noise from the bars nearby, but the windows do seal a lot of it.
Location (except for the fact they property is poorly signed)
It’s an old and dingy property with poor decor and which didn’t feel clean to me. Despite the friendliness of the staff, the stay was not a pleasant one. Even the sign outside is broken and falling apart. I won’t return.
First of all team working there was super kind and supportive, special thanks to them. Location was perfect, very central, you can reach many places by foot. The room was very clean and comfortable.
Everything was great.
Staff was great. Quiet rooms. Very close to many restaurants and bars.
Bed was a little uncomfortable, but the room has everything you’d need.
Very clean and friendly staff
No air conditioning , noisy outside all night,
Great location and clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. We got the premium room so it was spacious enough for the two of us.
A small fridge would be nice.
The hotel is very charming and our room was very spacious. The walk up the narrow stairwell was challenging but not impossible, especially when we arrived since the gentleman at the front helped us carry our luggage upstairs. The location was perfect, providing terrific restaurants and cafes within walking distance, and plenty of choices just downstairs! We would love to return to Amsterdam someday and would not hesitate to stay at Imperial Hotel once again. Highly recommend.
The convenient location, the easy check-in, the very kind couple at the reception desk, the cute, clean and comfortable room that was quiet for sleeping, good shower
Excellent location, comfortable rooms and very kind staff.
There was quite a lot of noise from the restaurants and construction across the street. Not the hotel’s fault but still quite bothersome if you’re a light sleeper.
The room was comfortable, great location! Staff helpful and friendly.
Stairs are rough, TV was confusing with limited channels.
Nice and kind staff
The room was old and not well maintained, the stairs at a bit dangerous and the price is definitely too high for what you get I felt a bit deceived.
