The Crown Hotel

The staff were absolutely amazing. All friendly, courteous and wonderful.

The room was a lot smaller than I expected - also we asked for a twin, so sure, we had two separate beds but they were very close to each other. There is poor ventilation in the bathroom. Also, the stairs were so steep!

My stay at The Crown Hotel truly exceeded my expectations. I received a warm and gracious welcome from the hotel manager, which set a positive tone for the entire visit. The room was exactly what I needed - clean and pleasantly warm. I was also delighted by the complimentary coffee, tea, and water available, which added to the overall comfort of the stay. The hotel’s location is exceptional - situated in the heart of Amsterdam’s historic city center, within a few minutes’ walk of Amsterdam Centraal Station and many of the city’s main attractions, making it easy to explore on foot. In terms of cost-benefit, this hotel offers excellent value for money - considering its central location, welcoming service, and basic amenities, it would be difficult to find a better option at this price point in the same area. The steep staircases reflect the distinctive architecture and history of Amsterdam; although they are quite steep, they have been well maintained and add to the authentic experience. I very much enjoyed my stay and can confidently say that I will choose to stay here again whenever I return to Amsterdam.

We were in room at top of hotel and the stairs were very steep and difficult to use especially to get to the shared bathroom downstairs. Room was also small.

The hotel is very close to the central station, and has a process for people that will arrive late which works quite good. You get your key when there is no staff and a printed instruction sheet to get in your room.The hotel was really clean, and I saw a place for cats which made me think maybe you can bring yours if you have to because during my stay there was no resident pet around.Free coffee is available 24/7 and there are one pager flyer maps at the reception which guides you through the city you can take.

My room (102) had no ventilation. The only available means of ventilation was this little fan which only worked when you turn on the lights of the shower/bathroom.There was a window very high which I had no means of reach, so every day when I arrived I had to keep the door ajar for 30 minutes just to change the air in the room.My second problem in the room was again this window which had no curtains. It was adjacent to the hall of the first floor where the light was on 24/7, coming inside the room all night and directly at my face at 2 am, 3 am, 4 am . I stayed there for 2 nights and zero sleep for 2 nights. You will see in the photos what I am talking about.As a result, it was a really bad experience…I also didn”t see in the one pager how I can connect to wifi, the gsm reception was quite awful in the room. Imagine you are not able to sleep, can’t connect to internet and the air keeps on becoming more stale by the minute….

Great location, helpful and cheerful staff. The hotel cat! For one night stay it was amazing.

I don’t have complaints, but if someone is looking for longer stay and bit more space in the room, maybe this is not a best option for you.

Excellent location, in the city centre, with a view on the canal. Easy access even after the main entrance is closed. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. When we had an issue with the water, they fixed it in 5 min, and also sent an apologies message. Nice cat in the lobby, plus free coffee and tee. Warmly recommend it. Btw, mind the narrow stairs.

Can be a bit noizy due to the loud youth walking under the windows. And due to the seagulls. But come on, you are in Amsterdam, enjoy the city as the locals do! :)

The location was great! The staff was really nice as well.

The noise, but what do you do with an old authentic building. The shower wasn't that great just because there is a half class and everything else is open so the water gets over the whole bathroom.
