Pros +
- For the price , for a solo adventurer I was perfectly happy with my accomodations, might not be for someone looking for the Ritz but if you need a place to wash , sleep and use the toilet then for the money I paid I couldn't ask for better .
- Hello, It is really a budget hotel, because of its very good price and 3 steps from Dam Square.
- Easy to find, very centrally located and the hosts were welcoming.
Cons -
- Other people were sometimes loud but that's on them not the hotel.
- Room small, very high and very narrow stairs (of course no elevator), I had to use service for luggages. By the way, if you do not have IBAN for your bank account, the deposit of the key (that you paid by cash at your check-in) might be hard to be reimbursed. That was my case.
- Room was small and the bed sheets stained/discoloured meaning they don't look clean even if they are. Rooms are up steep narrow stairs so may not suit those with large heavy suitcases.

The location were great, close to all the places you want to visit, supermarket, bars, restaurantes and train all are walking distance
I don't think you can ask for much when you go to a low-cost hotel. When you get to the hotel they ask you for 20 euros deposit, they should give it back to you in the end of your staying. When I left, they said they did not have money if they could transfer it for me later that day, I was naive enough to believe in them and so far, I DID NOT GET THE MONEY BACK.So, if you are going to stay in this hotel, please, don't leave without your money, otherwise you will never see it again.
Room to small, and less of the anmenitiesIf you come with your friend make sure that you make a great deal. Because if not, the owner will charge you with additional money. Not worth it for the price.
Room was small, but cozy and comfortable. I bought the wrong adaptor for the plug ? in, but the front desk clerk let me borrow his. Very kind staff, helpful and accommodating. They gave me a coupon to save money on renting a bike to sightsee the city.
No stairs, but the staff helps you with your luggage, don’t really have nothing to complain about.
Just the location is good.
The shared bathroom on the 3rd floor had no light, making it difficult to use. There was no hand soap, and the space was extremely small. No hairdryer was provided. Overall, the cleanliness was poor — both the toilets and common areas were not well maintained. Good Staff.
Location, people and the whole thing about hotel is very good for the price.Yes, there sre steep stairs but again for the cost and location it.does not matterThe staff, they are super super amazing.Early baggage keeper and late check out bag keeper.Thank you
Nothing as such..Just the washroom on 3rd floor is nice compared to top floorAlso, toilet rolls were missing.Rest no problem
Always a pleasure to stay here. Mario is lovely and Rooms are clean. Very good location This is the 2nd time we have stayed and will be back
Friendly staff.
This is the most run down and horrible place I have ever slept. Due to its general distress, with everything from walls, windows, heaters furniture and floor being so used and dilapidated, everything feels really, really dirty. And I was literally given half a towel that looked like it had been torn over. The wash basin in my room offered no more than cold water, and only one working lamp.
We have really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Tamara. The place is located in the centre of Amsterdam, just in front of a tram stop. Therefore, it is very easy to move around the city from here. Mario and the rest of the staff have been very kind, helpful and nice with us. The room was equipped with a private shower and a nice heating system.
The location is really good. All the main attractions are nearby, and everything can be visited on foot.
I was simply shocked by what people are willing to rent out. The conditions in the room are completely inhumane; the space is very small, there’s only one bed and a sink, with no closet or anything to store your things, just one outlet to charge electronic devices. I know that prices in tourist destinations like Amsterdam are really high, but this is not human to rent out. It is absolutely not worth the money the hotel is asking for. I do not recommend it.
Close to main train station, tram stop directly outside of property, friendly staff, overall good experience.
Lots of steep stairs to climb
Proper oldskool hotel. John Lennon was there in the 60s. Solo. Room 7. Perfect for 1 or 2 nights getting lost in Amsterdam
Steps if your feeling "lazy". Bed if your super tall.
Friendly staff, great location, great value for money
The sink could have had a working tap
Amazing location literally right in the centre Mario and the other host were really sound, felt very safe as a woman in this hotel and the room was nice
The shower was missing a head but an easy fix x
Location wise fantastic and staff very helpful and friendly. Nice basic cheap digs in the heart of Amsterdam. Perfect for a couple of nights. Close to good coffeeshops and bars
The shower was a bit dodgy however water was very hot and was available all time
60 euros is cheap for a room in the center of Amsterdam. De bed was comfortable, with soft-touch bedding. The pillow could be improved, but it always helps to take the towel, fold it in some parts and put it underneath the pillow. The shower worked, but it was not possible to hang the show head on the wall, would be good to repair this. the staff was very friendly.
See above.
The host was friendly and welcoming. And the house itself is only a 7 minutes walk away from Centraal Station. There are tons of little shops, restaurants etc around. So because if that even at night the streets are quite busy so it was safe to walk around as a woman by myself even when it was already a bit later.
The planks of the floors were in such a bad state that at one point I feared I might break through the floor and end up in the room underneath. The rooms were dirty and mold was in the room and in the bathroom. The shower head was not cleaned and there was mold in the bathroom, too. The bed was so old, had a metal frame, and unstable that I feared I might break it. Which was not the case, thank God. The window was also very delicate and I dared not to manipulate it in order for it not to break off its frame.I believe the host did his best, but this place needs a thorough investment. Because in itself it has potential.
Perfect location,.everything is close by. Bed is comfy. Amazingly kind receptionist (thank you Mario). You can leave your bag there. Yes it's a small room, but this is Amsterdam. You wanna go out anyway.
Stairs -With big luggage it would have been harder to get up on the stairs. Wc- There is 1 toilet on each floor but you can use the one on other floor. Noise- it's quite central, noise calms down around 1-2 am.
