Pros +
- The property is in an amazing location - we even accidentally ended up back there multiple times while wondering around!
- Good location smoke friendly also
- I was looking for a low budget room at a place near the center. Because i smoke, it was important that the Hotel is smoker friendly. I don’t spend that much time at the hotel room normaly, so i don’t need luxurious furnishings. It was what i was looking for and what i paid for. So 10 Points.
Cons -
- The stairs are VERY steep, pillows were different sizes (both very small) & the carpet was ripped in the room so we tripped over it a couple times. The sheets also had some stains. None of these overly bothered us though as it was a reasonable price.
- Steep stairs but that’s Amsterdam in general
- Because it’s a older building and it’s where people spend their evening, it’s sometimes a bit loud. But they offer earplugs without asking. So they now and i know when i do the reservation. With people working there it‘s always kind of a personal thing i guess. I felt welcome most of the time and if not, it was because i wanted time for my own. So how can i ask other people to treat my like a friend. I got handled like a customer and this is what i wanted. For this time, because of my personal reasons. If you walk into the bar, you will see that it was my decision. The vibes are very very positive and friendly!

The smoking room and the bathroom and massage chair was great
Michelle the owner was the most unhelpful when i asked to change rooms and infact send a rather rude message to me via the chat service threateneing cancel my room at short notice or to pay extra dispite booking.com displaying the same rate that I had paid for another room, however I agreed and paid an additional 56 euros. When I arrived Michelle charged me again and had his staff inform me that of i did not make the payment i would not be allowed to stay leavimg me stranded in Amsterdam. So i paid again. The staff then printed me an invoice for a room costing 339 euros I provided proof that that was exactly how much i had paid, however proceeded to take another £56 anyway. I now have a bank stament showing a 405 euro payment for a 339 euro invoice please make it make sense !!! And no it was not city tax !!!
Perfect location, and it is smoker friendly. Easy checkin and check out.
Shower temperature was not ok, couldn't regulate the temperature.
Excellent location, clean room , friendly staff.
Affordable and very well located hotel. Perfect for people watching from the windows as they look over the Amsterdam streets. Staff was very friendly. Would definitely stay here again!
Great location, nice to come back in the evening and have a smoke out the window!.
The shower was hard to use without creating a flood!.
Location is amazing. Worker who also works in the bar is very kind and funny. Also, the room was very clean.
The stairs were steep. Bed could be more comfortable.
The proximity. to Amsterdam Centraal station was the only positive I can take from this experience. But the neighborhood could be described as on the 'dodgy' side.
This is NOT a hotel in the true sense of the word. These are rooms above a pub. The tiny staircase is a deathtrap and a lawsuit waiting to happen. God help you if you have a large suitcase. The only staff available to the clients are the people who work behind the bar. They have no knowledge of how to run a hotel and are only available during the pub's opening hours. And when you do speak to them there's the added bonus of the noisy pub atmosphere to contend with. The room was adequately sized but for Amsterdam in the depth of winter, I only had a tiny radiator to warm up the bedroom. The other room where the shower and toilet were remained freezing. The management could have spent an hour writing up notes for the rooms. On the final night the hot water system broke down. When I told the barman he said he knew and had already asked someone to come out. As I had to leave at 4am the next morning I was desperate to have a shower. Once again, there was zero communication. The problem was eventually fixed hours later. I never received any kind of apology for the inconvenience. €129 a night is absurd.
Location is excellent surrounded by a great selection of bars and restaurants 5 minutes walk from the station Staff were very friendly Room was warm, clean and the bed was comfortable The 10% discount at the bar was a pleasant surprise The luggage storage was also very helpful
Stairs were steep but it is Amsterdam so it was expected The shower was either boiling or freezing but we managed to make it through
Loved the location, most people would hate the sounds of city at night and early morning but I loved them as someone who grew up on the countryside. As a smoker I also loved the fact I could smoke in the room, that experiance alone made sure I will be staying here again!
Loved staying here. Location is perfect, staff are really friendly lady who checked me in was lovely. Rooms are basic, but have the essentials. Smoke friendly too, what more do you need? Will be staying here again.
Earplugs provided as it's on the corner of 2 busy streets with restaurants and pubs.TV YouTube worked fine.Interesting stairs, luckily we were on level 1, not higher !10%discount on drinks in the public bar, take advantage of the offer, a varied selection to choose from
If you were any higher than level 1, the stairs could present a significant problem, especially after taking advantage of the 10% off drinks in the bar
The location was perfect for our stay. Close to a wide variety of places to eat and a 12-minute walk from the train station, which made it easy to get around the city.
Being so close to the city center, there is noise and commotion until very late at night.
Location was perfect for 1 night stay during transfer. Room had everything we needed was clean with comfortable bed, considering location is on a busy street we weren't inconvenienced by the noise but we were on top floor. Smoking in the room is a bonus. Staff were friendly and make check in&out easy. Typical Amsterdam property with tight narrow stairs but manageable if no mobility issues
The location was good,
The morning noise was too loud, can’t get a good sleep due to noise,
Location is great, is near the station and by the city. Is clean and comfortable. The staff was so kind and helpful.
A bit noisy during at night but manageable
The location was perfect, the room was very nice and clean and the staff was really friendly. Even though it is part of the bar downstairs it was not noisy at all.
The shower on the second floor was a bit weird, we could not control the temperature it was either very cold or very hot, so we couldn't shower properly.
Quite central can smoke in room super basic room but was perfect room for us missing our flight. The bed was much more comfy than the one in Hilton night before
The stairs but all part of Amsterdam
