Pros +
- Great location, very clean and tidy.
- The Amstel was in a great part of town- close to everything but just far enough away from the busier parts like the red light district. There was a great view of the canal, and it was just a few blocks away from a huge street market. Close to the train station and other transport. My husband accidentally left his passport in the room when we checked out. The proprietor save our trip my mailing the passport to our next destination! We were so grateful and he saved us from having to go to the embassy.
- Excellent stay. Comfortable. Clean. Well location. The staff are very friendly and efficient.
Cons -
- Only thing is the stairs but it’s a normal thing for this city though.
- The staircase was very narrow and steep. It was difficult to navigate even for people in good physical shape.
- Nothing- it had everything.

Fokko was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was quiet with a very nice view over the canal. We used the tram to get around during our stay and this was very close to the hotel.
The location was perfect. It was on a beautfiul street just a quick walk to everything. The owner was so knowledgable and gave us so many tips on local sites and treats.
Nothing- it had everything.
The room was huge and a wonderful little balcony overlooking the canal. The only issue was you need to have strong legs if you have to stay on an upper floor. We had, and I counted them,lol,...38 stairs each way.
The stairs.
Location
Unfortunately there were ants in the property and they wouldn’t go away nor were we warned beforehand that this was an issue (it seemed owner knew about it). No hooks to hang clothes in bathroom not even to hand towels.Radiator was not working in bathroom.Induction hob was temperamental and not working consistently and kept asking to remove the pot or not turn on wasting time in morning.
Charming canal side hotel with self catering rooms. Located in an interesting neighbourhood with convenient access to public transportation. My room had a balcony overlooking a green garden space.
The stairs are steep and shallow. There was very little storage space in my room.
Clean and up to date rooms. There are some eateries nearby and close to transportation options.
Very steep stairs inside and going to the third floor maybe difficult if you are not aware along with luggage.
This was a delightful stay. Outside of the city center but easily accessible by city tram. We actually walked most days just to see the sights and canals of this gorgeous city. The bed was very comfortable and the owner was friendly!
Area was perfect for the metro, was clean and tidy with lots of space
Great location in a quiet part of Amsterdam. Room had beautiful garden view with balcony.
It was out of town enough to avoid the crowds but close enough to walk into the main part. the owner was brilliant, we flew out on the day Heathrow closed so our original flight was cancelled and we managed to rebook one from a different airport and he was so accommodating and understanding. We turned up late at night in the end but he was there to meet us and never made us feel it was inconvenient. correspondence with Fokko was brilliant and he was there if we needed him!We stayed in the Play Room, spotlessly clean every day we were there which was lovely!
The only negative I could find was the stairs as we were at the very top and although this was fine for us, some people may struggle. wouldn’t recommend for the elderly etc.
Friendly and relaxed, quiet , easy to find.Loved the style of the hotel mixing old Amsterdam with new. The owner of the house gave us a book explaining the history of the house and who had lived there , very interesting. I would definitely go back.
I thought maybe a couple of complimentary water bottles might be an idea. The small bottles of shampoo/body lotion had already been used. New would be good.
Everything, me and my partner came here for our honeymoon and wow the building and room we were in was absolutely beautiful, we were given a bottle of bubbly to celebrate also. The communication was amazing and the towels were changed everyday it was fantastic! The location was fantastic and easy to get to places. We were also able to check in early and check out late (please do ask as we did). I honestly cannot recommend this enough and if we ever go back to Amsterdam we will defo be staying here again?
Great location Authentic Amsterdam experience CleanComfortable Good and friendly host.
Air BNB. Has small kitchen and fridge. Limited but adequate. Very clean. The host was excellent and helpful. I would highly recommend.
Stairs would be tough for anyone with mobility issues but fine otherwise. Its a great spot if you want to be just a few blocks outside the busy areas. Its on a quiet street so if you are looking to me more central in the hustle and bustle this would not be your area to pick.
great location, good value, easy to travel around
the stairs can be a bit tough
Beautiful building and inside, our room was beautiful and had everything we needed. Very good location easy to get to everywhere, lovely sights to see around Amstel river. Close to the train and metro stops everything very easy to get to. We didn’t even need the train or metro just easy to walk everywhere.
The stairs were steep that was all but expect when going to Amsterdam! The building is amazing, felt like proper Amsterdam experience.
Our stay at this Amsterdam flat was absolutely delightful! The location was incredibly convenient, and we loved spending time on the balcony overlooking the charming neighborhood. The apartment was cozy, warm, and impeccably clean—fresh towels were provided daily, our bed was made, and even the dishes were washed for us. The kitchenette was a fantastic addition, giving us everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owner was wonderful—kind, helpful, and very communicative, even going out of their way to help us with our bags up the stairs. We’d happily stay here again!
