    Pros +

    • Location is key or was until the coffee shops are now being moved away from the district
    • Location was great.
    • If you are coming to Amsterdam as a tourist, Hotel Benn is in the perfect location for a basic stay. Nothing fancy but a great price considering it is a 5 minute walk from centraal station and is in the heart of the tourist attractions.

    Cons -

    • The overall experience was disappointing. What was most unacceptable was the payment issue. We chose the “pay at property” option, which clearly stated that payment could be made by cash or card. However, upon arrival, the staff insisted that we pay in cash only. We were forced to withdraw money from a nearby ATM and were charged an additional 12euros in fees. It felt very unpleasant, as we were not prepared to carry that much cash, yet the staff kept insisting on cash payment. The room had carpet flooring, but it looked quite old, making the room feel less clean. The bathroom was also rather small. The water pressure and heater did not function well. The water temperature kept fluctuating, sometimes it was extremely hot, and other times it was icy cold, which is definitely not suitable for travelers during the winter season. There was no lift, so we had to carry our luggage up to the 4th floor via a narrow spiral staircase. The bed was quite small for us, but it was comfortable. The room heater was centrally controlled by the staff, and we were unable to adjust it ourselves. We were only informed of this after asking.
    • Room as a whole was nothing special and had mediocre beds and toilets but this is reflected in the price and I still felt like I had a good deal.
    • It stunk was scruffy n 4 sets of stairs with 23kg luggage n no help from staff

    Locatie

There was no way to adjust the heater in the room. When it was on, the temperature was unbearably hot—like being stuck in the desert. When it was off, the room became freezing, which is especially unpleasant during winter in the Netherlands with the constant rain and wind.To make matters worse, the heater couldn’t be controlled from the room at all; it was managed only from the reception desk. That meant you had to find a staff member and ask them to switch it on or off each time, which was very inconvenient and sometimes difficult when no one was available.Overall, the lack of in-room temperature control made the stay a sleepless nightmare

    Location was good

Night staffs attitude was unacceptable, very rude, also the bathroom absolutely stunk of sewerage

It's always very close to everything you're on a winner

Probably it's tough after night out the cleaners that's all but they are good workers

    Brilliant location

Smelt a bit, would have loved a kettle

    7RuthPosted on: 1-27-2026

The beds were narrow but comfy. Room warm. Loved the hotel cat. Good location. Fairly quiet at night.once everyone was in.

The stairs were a nightmare. Nowhere for disabled except upstairs, and we heard people pounding up and down during the night. The cleaners were so loud we thought it was a couple having a domestic.

The location is excellent, just a stone's throw from the central station, the nightlife district, and downtown. Both reception staff members who served us were incredibly friendly and helpful; in fact, their service and communication were truly exceptional.

It was quite disappointing that we had to carry our luggage to the fifth floor because the facility does not have an elevator.

    Location

Small room for three people. The bathroom flooded after every shower because the curtain was too short, and there was hardly any space to sit on the toilet. Way too small and not suitable for bigger or stronger people at all.

I like the location, centrally located however my lungs were field with smoke but it is what it is! It’s Amsterdam it’s part of the vibes . The staff are friendly.

The rooms are so tiny . The hallways and stairs are too narrow and has some dungy smell. Maybe due to carpeted floors. And wary about the cleanliness of the bed and sheets.

I liked the location of the property, central to everything, right in the action and not far from train station.

Stairs, double rooms only on top floor meant carrying suitcases up many stairs!!!!

The location of the hotel is great near to the station, also there’s a lots of options for food or sweets or even clothes

The employee was super rude and unprofessional he didn’t even greet us when we entered, and when I was explaining him the problem that I have faced he kept repeating that is my problem not his, I don’t know his name but he works in the late night shift

Nothing just location is nearby to central station, and bars hotels and food stalls even you can find tour shops and river cruise on walking distance.

People were staying down, but they told me there were no double room down and given me 5th floor , stairs are dangerous to climb with heavy baggage, Also on first use toilet was blocked when i blamed them, receptionist blamed me the same, that bcoz of me and then it didn't got taken care 2 days even after daily reminder and also telling housekeeping twice. In last day i was cleaned

The staff were very attentive and understanding, which was wonderful. All the staff were so kind and good-hearted that I wish I could have stayed another day. The location is really great, close to everything and safe. Our room was very clean and tidy, and even though it was in a very central location, I slept very well at night and didn't have any noise issues. If I were to come back, I would definitely choose this place again. 10/10
