The location was great. The breakfast was good (including waffle makers). It has a large breakfast room (seats 50 plus ppl). I would say larger than most. Freson Bros (grocery) is across the parking lot. Canadian Tire is in throwing distance.
Rooms were clean. Gym was pretty dirty.

Friendly staff, kids had fun in the pool, breakfast offered lots of great options, beds were comfortable & AC was excellent during the 30c+ heat wave. We walked into our pre-air conditioned room after a long drive, that was very much appreciated!

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 3 to 6 weeks in advance for July-August and long weekends. High demand from field trips and museum visitors often raises prices or leads to sold-out dates. Booking early secures your spot and may help you avoid price increases. Many top hotels in Drumheller offer flexible cancellation for advance bookings, so confirm policy details when you reserve.
- Choose accommodation within 5 to 10 minutes (approximately 2 to 7 km) of the Royal Tyrrell Museum to minimize daily driving and save on taxi or fuel costs, especially if you plan morning or late-day visits. Many chain hotels are within this range and include parking; check if your hotel has shuttle or bike rental options available.
- Plan to arrive by car, as Drumheller does not have regular intercity transit. The drive from Calgary is roughly 135 to 150 km, taking about 1 hour 35 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. Major agencies offer rental cars at Calgary International Airport; review policies for GPS, child seats, or accessibility equipment if needed.
- Only a 5% federal GST applies to hotel stays in Alberta since there is no provincial sales tax. You may see municipal tourism levies on your bill; check your reservation for details and request an itemized receipt at check-out. International guests should verify if their credit card charges foreign transaction fees.
- Drumheller’s tap water is treated and safe to drink. Pack a reusable water bottle to refill, which reduces plastic waste and saves on buying bottled water from hotels. Some properties may offer filtered water stations or ice machines; check for these amenities if important to you.
- Cell service in Drumheller's town center is generally reliable but can become patchy in the Badlands region. Download offline maps and bring a power bank for exploring outside town limits. Most hotels provide free Wi-Fi for guests; confirm Wi-Fi coverage in public areas before arrival if stable online access is important.
- Verify accessible room features before booking. Major hotels and the Royal Tyrrell Museum provide accessible facilities, but some motels offer limited step-free access. Confirm your room location, elevator availability, visual alarms, and bathroom details directly with your hotel. Consider contacting hotels in advance for specific accessibility requests or support.
- Most restaurants in Drumheller close by 21:00 to 22:00. If arriving late, plan ahead by reserving at a hotel restaurant or purchasing snacks for after-hours dining. Many chain hotels offer 24-hour food or beverage options; check amenities before booking.
