Cons -
- Cheap house liquor

- It seems to be all-inclusive but the price for the meals is really high for thus region. We opted to eat out at local restaurants instead for lunch and many dinners.

The excursions available
We had no access to the restaurant. The hotel was 60% full and they claimed the restaurants were sold out. We had to eat at a snack bar, room service or Buffett. We were disappointed
The view of the sky, terrain and the sea was mesmerizing. The sound of the waves and nature are so peaceful and relaxing.
No complaints, but food quality and variety should improve. Also i will love more Dominican music.
Not 5 star ! When we got there we were told we have to upgrade to be all inclusive. 280$ more for 4 nights. The rooms need upgrade!! There was no extra amenities such as bath robe , slippers, and the simple nice extras. We only had access to 1 restaurant which was terrible and both my husband and I got food poisoning! I was literally throwing up off the boat on one of the excursions. The general buffet food was not good with little options! The property location was very nice though and felt private , the pool and beach was very nice
Clean Well organized Comfy bedGreat bathroomGreat showerGood hot waterBeautiful room with large balcony with comfy chairs and fabulous sea view.Food - buffet - OK but Great serviceEmployees kind and friendly Lovely place, nice places to relax with view and read or chatBeautiful poolReally nice private beach
After making my reservation. Getting in touch with a responsible human being there to answer questions and make transfer arrangements was frustrating and ultimately IMPOSSIBLE - A WEEKS-LONG NIGHTMARE.BEWARE !!
All of the food was well prepared. I did NOT like the fact that the snack area by the pool had food uncovered and a TON of flies helping themselves to the food. That was the first day. I did not see too many flies at the regular buffet area but still saw some. The hotel is very beutiful and the staff maintain the cleanliness which is not easy when it rains.
I think there needs to be plastic covers on the food that you can open and help yourself when its in the open area. I think when you check in someone should tell you what there is to do and how the restaurants work-the fact that there is only ONE open per night, NOT 3. Did not like having to ask for ice for the room instead of getting it ourselves-one time it took ½ hour to receive it. Did not like having to wait for my room when I did the online check-in days before and stated that we would arrive between 2-3; we arrived at 3p and it still was not ready. We had to ask if we could go eat because we had not had lunch. We are property owners of the chain Bahia Principe but when we presented our ID it meant nothing to the staff. We were supposed to received a steady check-in as its part of our benefits. Not even sure if we received the other benefit which was a discount on the room. When I asked they said my room was already paid for- I assumed because we used Booking.com. The hotel is not good for those who can not handle stairs. The amount of stairs to do anything was relentless. This hotel is basically only good for a romantic get-a-way as it very small. We usually stay at a 5 star rated hotel and are made to feel special. We did not feel the 5 start experience here.
The resort was easy to navigate. Great view of the ocean. The staff were very nice. The ocean was great to swim in. No seaweed or coral so great for going barefoot.
There was not a lot of entertainment on the resort. The was very little choices when it came to the food buffets compared to other resorts in the area. Lastly personally I found the beds to be very uncomfortable. I got very little sleep throughout my week.
The hotel was located on a hill surrounded by water. Everywhere you go, you encounter several steps. There was a small private beach for those who enjoy the sea. The food at the buffet restaurant was very bad and repetitive. There were no entertainment or recreational activities during the day, making it very boring
Spacious room, nicely decorated, unmatched view. I read the bad reviews about the food, I do not know what people usually eat, but for me the food quality was far over the expectations. Beautiful beach. And with the rented car you can reach in 20-30 minutes one of the most beautiful beaches as well as other amazing trekking places in DR if the hotel beach is not enough.
Hotel with a beautiful location/view. I had a room with a sea view and that is really worth the extra amount. Staff is very friendly, everything well maintained. Buffet fine, but standard items that I (only had a three-day stay) quickly recognized from previous evenings. Disadvantage: a lot of stairs. Not suitable for people with mobility problems.
See the remark about the steps. Furthermore. It is quite remote. So if you want more than just a beach/swimming pool, you really need a car (or book trips via the tour desk).
The staff is very friendly and responsive. Fantastic location and close to the whales.
Oh my favourite place of all DR. What a gem. I didn’t expect too much reading the reviews but oh! It was just great. First of all, the location. I have never been to a hotel that has such a 250degree views of the sea. That was the number one. The place is so well designed you feel like you are almost on your own and they were sold out! So many areas to chill, on so many levels. Wherever I looked it was just beutiful. Even a space behind the building. Even the parking lot looked like a garden! Just amazing. The staff is also amazing and will be happy to help. My mum didn’t like her toom so they changed it at no extra charge(we were glad to pay but didn’t have to). The lunch was excellent a la carte. Dinner was meh. Breakfast ok. I loved the locations of the restaurants. The rooms were a bit old school in design(not my favourite style) but of all the hotels we went to it was by far the best kept rooms. You know that feeling when everything just works and everything is there when you need it. Like working a/c, and quiet, a lovely coffee maker, a good magnyfying mirror in the bathroom, a lovely ice box… etc etc. The bartenders know their cocktails too and the bar is so well priced.
Dinner. My only but big dissapointment. Lunch was awesome though and breakfast just ok, could be so much better. We didn’t get sick, but food lacked flavour. But I loved the place so much it wasnt a problem.
Ocean view and the sound of the waves crashing. The hotel seemed freshly painted and was pretty clean. The room was decent, the staff was very nice and helpful. It was nice to relax.
The TV was not smart lol. We had local programming, but we used our Laptop for Netflix. There was no room service available yet at stated by the reception. Those plastic cup from the Las Olas Restaurant have to go.
location relaxing
service at the Maine buffet was not great most of the time
Hotel location is separated as it seems and thus very quiet.Beach is super clean and beautiful. No sales people in the whole hotel area (besides the travel guides in the hotel lobby that guests can approach if needed). At the beach you can enjoy the sound of the sea, while the pool area offers a great animation program and music. The hotel offers an outstanding view to the sea. Chance to see some whales if you are lucky (bring binoculars).Free shuttle to the close by Baccardi Island.
Food is delicious but not suitable if you have any food allergies. Allergens are not labeled at all. Also, no guidance from the kitchen staff. Lobby staff and guest relation promised help, but nothing happened even after multiple approaches.Only one shop in the hotel area, which is pretty small and expensive (bring enough sun screen, snorcheling equip, etc.)
It is an excellent location and hotel complex, and has a partially nice staff - too bad it lacks the basics, hospitality.
What a shame that the hotel lacks the basics - a hotel management to make you feel welcome, respected and safe. The hotel policy and some of the staff behave unprofessional and respectless. Socially highly respected persons of my family could not enter and were told to stay out, even that their short visit was communicated by us at the reception quite some time ahead. My two family members had to wait in their car halfway in the street till i arrived, still being refused to pass to solve the matter. Awkward, even dangerous. I checked out of the hotel immediately after this unfriendly and offensive treatment, among other, I started to be also worried for my safety and comfort. Asking for a reimbursement for the 2 additional nights already payed - booking come sending forward my complaint - I am still waiting for any answer/excuse of the hotel more than 2 months later. I recommend presently not to go in any of the Bahia Principe hotels till their unprofessional, respectless and intransparent policies are changed.

A Bahia Principe Hotel in the DR had already some heavy problems 2019 (tourists dying suddenly, see published newspaper articles in internet) and the matter seems not be clarified till now. I recommend presently not to go in any of the Bahia Principe hotels till their unprofessional, respectless and intransparent policies are changed.
Absolutely amazing experience. Attentive and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. The location of the hotel is unbeatable with view on Samana bay. It has a private beach and a free of charge transport to the nearby cayo levantado island. The rooms are clean and well maintained. We fell in love with the hotel and its location so much that we decided to prolong our stay for a few more days. The food was great and diverse and the service was impeccable. there are plenty of different cocktails and local premium drinks included in the all inclusive offer. The hotel threw a wonderful dinner and experience for new year’s eve. everything was magical. We are already looking forward to repeating our stay next year.
I’m very happy with the overall experience, I must mentioned that before my stay I read a couple of worrying reviews about food intoxication, this has nothing to do with hotel food, if you have a sensitive stomach just avoid drinking tap water and ice and you’ll be fine.
