Pros +

  • very good location; beautiful hotel; staff very good and helpful. Breakfasts delicious. Bathroom supplies lovely
  • Service was top par. Hotel employee did a phenomenal job at making people feel at comfortable. He was professional and personal at the same time. The room was clean. We got the special package for the horse-back, lunch, kayak, massage, and dinner.
  • Beautiful location and property, delicious breakfast. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff.

Cons -

  • Never met owners not on site except very brief with Alain in am Room could use some refreshing- little peeling wallpaper; dirty vents in bathroom. Evening restaurant very novell cuisine and quite cher-expensive. even in bar location.
  • I feel that the dinner for the Special Package could improve a bit. Even, so, we were very satisfied with everything.
  • The room decor was lovely but the layout was awkward. We did not like the two levels in the room - especially if it was necessary to get up at night to use the bathroom. The step down from sleeping area to bathroom needed better lighting. The steam aromatherapy shower had no instructions for use. The hair dryer conked out when using it on the last morning. The room above us had a very squeaky floor which made it difficult to sleep if guests were active at night. In fact, for 2 of our 3 nights the were quite noisy. It would be helpful to remind those staying in the 2nd floor to be mindful of guests on the 1st floor.

Nice atmosphere & grounds. Rooms were spacious & comfortable, but cleanliness could have been better. Liked the restaurant on premise. Breakfast was just ok.

Maintenance of room was lacking. Staff could have been better.

Disappointing

There are several areas where improvements could have been made. The quality of the linens and blankets in our villa suite was particularly disappointing. The breakfast options were limited, and additional charges were incurred for fresh orange juice and yogurt with fruit. Additionally, the final bill prominently featured a tip section that was highlighted, which was not appropriate.

Beautiful setting, comfortable cozy room, great shower, thick towels, delicious breakfast, really attentive service from all staff!

Loved everything…except would have appreciated a wall-mounted magnifying mirror in the bathroom.

Great food, service, room and hospitality

not as good as expected based on Google reviews

The furniture are quite outdated and worn, with the price we paid, we expect the cleaner room and newer furniture. There are some bleach odor in the room, suggest the hotel to use more user friendly cleaning product.

The breakfast good

Extremely expensive restaurant , Food was ok but not worth the cost , wine list was all extremely expensive. At breakfast the waiter presented us with the bill and had highlighted where we were supposed to leave a gratuity for the breakfast staff and housekeeping .Rooms were passable but not up to the standard of all the other properties we had stayed in on our trip . The rooms are a little tired.Location is handy for Skyline and Dulles Airport , but is on a noisy main road

Breakfast was ok, served by great staff member, but didn’t really live up to it’s description of “gourmet”. It was just as expected for the price point.

The room and facilities were dated and tired. Ok, it’s a historical property but really it misses the point. Poor air con, a TV the size of Pc screen parked on a shelf so difficult to view. The location is actually on a busy highway, although the double glazed windows keep noise down once in the room. Overall this is predominantly a restaurant with rooms.

Super friendly service and the food at the restaurant was excellent.

My room faced the street and the traffic noise is pretty loud.

This meticulously kept, charming bed and breakfast really made me feel as if I was staying in southern France thanks to the room's esthetic design. We stayed in the Voltaire room (number 1). It had a comfortable king size bed, a sunken sitting room with a fire place, and a large bathroom with a steam aromatherapy shower that was very relaxing. It felt like we had our own spa!The food, especially the breakfast, was astounding. We plan to visit here many more times in the future!

The cost can be quite steep if you plan on eating dinner here, but it is possible to find special room rates at certain times of the year. If you are looking for a relaxing, romantic splurge, definitely consider staying here.

Kelly our server was friendly and attentive. The breakfast was delicious!

Location was out in country setting .. not much to do in immediate area.. but many wineries. shops.. you have to drive a bit.The breakfast was fine. Amount given met my needs.. Great location for ones who want to be away from hustle and bustle.very private , quiet in the house.. nice to have bar downstairs on location

Food and drinks a bit pricey... Not enough food on breakfast plate for my husband.. A bit noisy outside, being right along the highway..

Loved the countryside in which the inn is located. Breakfast was ordinary.

A better a la carte menu. Better linens.

Service exquisite- rooms lovely. We wished we had thanksgiving dinner there instead of The Ashby Inn. Breakfast fabulous! Added bonus. You have a bar! Can’t wait to come back!

Great service and beautiful rooms, tranquil spot, fantastic breakfast

Dinner was very expensive with tiny portions

10MikeymanPosted on: 6-22-2023

Delightful place and grounds. Loved breakfast. Disappointed that the restaurant was closed for dinner on the night we stayed.

10DiannePosted on: 5-30-2023

Very comfortable and quaint. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent .Couldn’t wait for breakfast every day. Loved all the flowers and herbs around.

Keep hitting my toes on the bed frameSince it stuck out and concealed from my veiwToo much light came into windows while sleeping.Chairs at table seemed like they need reinforcementAlso furniture could use steam cleaning.

L’Auberge Provencal is a B&B extraordinare with lovely French-themed rooms and a gourmet restaurant. But it’s the service that makes this place stand out. If you’re looking for a quiet weekend, with a trip to a vineyard or a hike, this is a great pick.

Our breakfast was wonderful, but I had an issue at dinner, getting a steak prepared the way I wanted. Next time, I would order one of their French entrees.
