Cons -
- Valet parking is mandatory & an additional $30. Would have liked for this charge to be better spelled out ahead of time when booking.
- It smelled in my room like an old fire( wood smoke). I couldn't get on the WiFi. I called Hotel before I went To make sure about WiFi in rooms and they said no problem. The password they gave me never worked , I even Called the front desk for help.
- No Refrigerator or microwave in the room. Of course this being a classic hotel. There is no pool which was okay.

Staff was very friendly and helpful! Valet parking was convenient! Room very clean and quaint! Convenient location!
Rooftop restaurant/lounge closed for renovation. Hours of operation of restaurant and bar were restrictive (10pm closure) especially considering that this is a tourist town.
Only 5 minutes walking time to the River Walk -- and 10 minutes from the River Center Mall. Very quiet. This is a boutique hotel, with a great staff.
Nothing comes to mind.
The location near the river walk was the only reason we did not ask for a refund. This is not a 4 star hotel.
Room was filthy, peeling wallpaper, dirty and scratched up walls, buckled floor, broken cords on curtains and terrible lighting. I would never stay here again. Not a 4 star hotel. Fitness center unavailable due to renovations and no pool.
This is a great hotel and location..walking distance to the Alamodomeand the riverwalk...Really like the rooftop bar
Totally misrepresented. One star. Lighting out in room entry. Total darkness and a step down to inside room. Dangerous. Lighting out in bathroom . Window curtain falling down. Slick old slanted stone floor in bathroom. No grab bars or bath mats.
Overall poor condition of hotel. Not as advertised . On the second of three nights, another room was offered. Better.. but double bed. Definitely would not recommend it nor would I ever stay there again
My architect husband loved this historic old flawed building.
If your looking for shiny fancy 4 star this is not it. This building has character.
It was charming and in downtown area. The bed and bedding was extremely comfortable.
Valet parking only. Not enough light in the room and no breakfast.
The Staff was nice, but that is all what I liked about this hotel.
Yes this was advertised as an 4 star hotel, but this hotel was far from that I have stayed at motel 6's that were nicer than that place. There were 2 options for parking a paid off site lot across the street that had to be paid 2 times a day or $49 valet
It was very charming.
The staff was not helpful at all. The bathroom was filthy. It looked like the baseboards & walls had not been cleaned in years. Valet parking was $39 a night which is not reasonable AT ALL so I had to walk a block & pay to park at the Marriott.
This hotel had a lot of charm like a bed and breakfast might have. The front bar and back patio are nice.
The hotel is in need of an update. I respect that they are trying to keep some of the antique charm, but some many worn sinks and showers make it feel like less than a four star hotel.
The hotel itself is great architecturally and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I did not like the parking situation at all. You either have to valet so you can be parked in their lot or you have to park in a pay lot in 12hr incriments. My valeted car was parked under a tree and came back dirtier than I left it. Really frustrating.
Only good thing was location
The rest of it. There was roaches in my room all they did was move us to another room that smelled like mold and everything was damp. We all woke up with a sore throat and they still mad me pay for parking and wouldn't refund any money. Horrible
Location.
Remodeling. No restaurant.
The hotel was very dated and in no way was it a 4 star hotel that I paid for. Wall paper was ripping from the walls in the bathrooms and bathtub was rusty. The beds were equivalent to a 1 or 2 star hotel. Very disappointed with this stay.
Location was ok and the place has some character
BIG PROBLEM...I had some kids asleep in one of the three rooms and they would not wake up. I went to the front desk and told them I have got kids I can not wake up in room xxx and they gave me a key with no id or anything. Crazy
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the location next to La Villita is perfect for enjoying the Riverwalk.
Honestly the room was awful. The ballroom wallpaper was peeling off of the walls. There were very few outlets and one was unusable because it was halfway pulled out of the wall. The furniture was chipped and poorly situated. Definitely NOT 4 Star hotel.
Literally everything. Even motel 6 puts bottled water in rooms. No restaurant. No vending machines, no fridge, no safe.and even funnier most hotels charge 32 per night for valley they want 40. Stay away
