    Pros +

    • We were seeking a location with character. Although the Hotel is not an original hotel, it was a great replica. The hotel clerk was wonderful!!
    • It's very charming. The rooms aren't big, but the amenities are awesome! Near restaurants in Old Town, all within walking distance.
    • Fun to have a night in a vintage-yet-updated hotel! The ceiling in our room must've been 15 or 20 feet. The exposed brick was tastefully done. And the location was wonderfully convenient to McKinney's downtown.

    Cons -

    • Parking is off site.
    • All good here!
    • The room we had was above the bar area and sound (from the band in the evening) was not as muffled as we'd have liked. Additionally, the plantation shutters, while stylish, didn't block as much exterior light as I usually prefer.

    Quiet, quality furnishings and clean.

    Proximity to restaurants and shops

The hot water was either scalding hot or freezing cold and constantly went from one extreme to the other with every shower.

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 3-2-2019

Lounge was nice with live music!

Reservation was taken with a view of the square, when we arrived that room was not available , but we were upgraded to a nicer room, but without the view !

    3Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 1-1-2019

The location. Very convenient for shopping "The Square".

Rm. reached 78 degrees in the night, cont'ing until check-out. We complained to desk clerk, she said the thermostat in our rm. was in-opperable, only 1 thermostat (in another rm.) controls 4 rms. She offered no compensation for our VERY UNCOMFORTBLE night

It has great potential- if the hot water was working and the night clerk was interested in her job

See above. First room the night clerk gave us was not made up, towels on floor and bed not made. Second room had no hot water

Great place to stay. Loved our room. Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet. It was in a very safe area so you can just walk out the front door to all the quaint little shops around the downtown square. Right beside a wonderful restaurant(Rick's)

Only thing I didnt like was that the parking was in the next block, but it was a very short walk. They do have valet parking available.

Really great feel and location is great.

I wish I had known that the Steak House was connected to it so that I could have planned to dine there. Floors squeek pretty bad and water pressure is low, but otherwise the tall ceilings and the classiness way over come that.

    Location and style

    Bar availability Sunday and Monday

The only thing I would suggest is that when there’s a special event such as the wedding event that was there the weekend we were there or with live music being played in the bar regular gas should be moved to the upper floors or to the other side!

    8Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 7-28-2017

The hotel was quaint and located near an "old town" square with places to eat and explore with my wife. A local winery has a store front at the next corner for enjoying wine and cheese and good conversation.

Our hotel room and much of the 2nd floor wing that we stayed in had a strong smell of mildew/mold. My wife and I woke up congested in the morning. This could be a major problem for those with respiratory problems.

location in Downtown McKinney was awesome and we really enjoyed the shops, boutiques, and cafe's nearby

Serious lack of parking. For a 4 star rating the services and amenities were not what we expected. Band playing below our room was extremely noisy, especially the bass and drums until midnight.

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 3-5-2017

    Everyone was very nice!

no - except that the machine was out of water, but the bar happily gave us water!!

    10KarenPosted on: 2-5-2017

Location, high quality of rooms, linens and toiletries. Close access to shops and excellent restaurants.

    10TimothyPosted on: 12-16-2016

Spent time at the Grand in mid December to shop the square for last minute gifts and enjoy the town. Christmas tree was lit and across from hotel. Festival of lights parade at night. Fabulous dinner at Rick's Chophouse with complimentary deserts.

Loved everything about hotel from staff to room to complimentary valet parking.

    1Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 12-13-2016

No hot water. One thermostat on the 4th floor almost roasted. Valet parked our car on Saturday evening and on Sunday we had to go to 2 parking lots in the rain to locate car. Ordered room service and they did not pickup our request.

    7Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 11-27-2016

Has character; toiletries very nice; towels very nice.

Bed-making disappointing; room smelled musty; thermostat difficult to adjust

    9JerryPosted on: 5-29-2016

in the downtown area - walking distance to several restaurants. A bit of "old world" style.

our particular room only had a skylight - no window and the skylight was right over the bed, so we had light in the room all night - not a good place for light to come into the room at night.
