    Pros +

    • Nice to have a luxury option in this part of Texas. Staff was fantastic. Enjoyed the saloon, pizzeria, ice cream shop and pool.
    • I liked the cleanliness of the room and the lady at the front desk!
    • NICE room and gorgeous property. We loved the hotel pool with shaded areas and lights in the evening. Market food and restaurant food was delicious, with overall friendly staff.

    Cons -

    • For the price, our bathroom was a little run down. Did not like the ornate fountains throughout the property. It is kitschy, and wasteful where water is so scarce. Restaurant food could be better. Need benches in the pavilion to enjoy the view.
    • The hotel was understaffed which it caused several actor to be closed.
    • It was challenging to walk on some of the stone walkways, with a huge trip factor.

    It's quietness, peaceful location.

Our private patio was dirty, trash left from a party of the last occupants.

    10JohnPosted on: 10-29-2020

It was IDEALLY situated for all must-see Big Bend viewing excursions, scenic drives westbound on Hwy 170 towards Presidio, and provided numerous activities and amenities onsite which is MARVELOUS amidst this vast desolate area! DESERT OASIS to the core!!

    The golf course

Towels/shower head. Staff was a little rude, on Thanksgiving only , which is kinda understandable

    The bartender was very friendly.

It was quite old with little soundproofing. The pool looked like it hadn't been filtered in a year and was FREEZING and because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you don't have options for food so you have to eat there and it's grossly overpriced.

    9Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 11-1-2018

It is the best hotel in the area - without doubt.

Everything is so remote here. My only complaint had to do with wifi and the fact that there is no elevator so luggage had to be schlepped up and down the stairs. I could have waited for help - they did offer - but, just did it ourselves.

Location that is close to Big Bend National Park.

The room is old and some facilities needed to be fixed. However, the price is extremely high.

    4ScottPosted on: 11-24-2015

For The location, At posted room rates: Lack of staff, unfriendly staff, dated rooms and facilities, food okay, wait staff good, live music fine, some facilities (store, bakery) closed and not stocked, no transportation to remote rooms, no front desk infc

Lack of info given about amenities available (spa, golf, etc); extremely overpriced but nowhere else to stay; unfriendly front desk, lack of info, rooms were dated and bare floors cold, door stuck, not enough towels, inadequate maint

    10LannyPosted on: 11-20-2015

Front desk very helpful, rooms were always clean. Hotel ambiance is exceptional. I would not stay in another hotel when visiting Big Bend. I tried the new zip line attraction. The guys on the crew maintain a safe and enjoyable ride.

    None I can think of.

    Convenience to the amenenties

two outlets had strips with multiple plugsin. Headboard was wobbly and apparently the one next door because it kept slaming against the wall. Phone would go off during the night and day randomly with no one on the line.

    10JamesPosted on: 9-12-2015

Second time visiting area. Mainly for the golf but hotel was great.. It is rustic just so you know what to expect.

Bring power strip to insure enough outlets.

Awesome views, nice restaurant, great golf course!

Needed more seating in the room.

    7Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 8-16-2015

    The ambience and scenery.

Wifi sporadic, mostly didn't work. Shower in ceiling straight down from ceiling making it impossible not to get your hair wet. Too expensive for what you get.

Beautiful location very well kept !

Cleaning Staff hung out outside my room at 830 am while I was trying to sleep in .. All I could hear was people speaking Spanish laughing very loudly.

    5KarenPosted on: 4-24-2015

Location, and view from the restaurant.

No elevator (had to carry bags up steep stairs and around a bunch of tables and chairs), dark in room so difficult to read, no breakfast, room is a bit worn worn, and the bar was dirty. Expected more for the price.

    8Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 4-6-2015

It was a beautiful location and off the beaten path to say the least. The architectural and grounds were very interesting, quiet, and clean. The bathroom had beautiful and colorful tiles.

The room was a tad bit small for 2 queen beds and for the price and/or what the original price was quoted as, it was a small and simple room.

    5Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 3-22-2015

It's far away from the Madding Crowd and has a great golf course. The staff are very enthusiastic and friendly.

Our mattress was worn out and hammocked badly, so it was really difficult to get a good night's sleep. This once handsome facility looks in general like it has suffered economically. I will recommend this hotel because it is the ONLY hotel in Lajitas.
