Room size only 12 x 12. Bathrooms tiny No sink in bathroom. Resort charge at check out !!!!!

We had a horrible experience and are demanding a full refund. The room that we booked had a strong, unpleasant odor of mildew, must and mold. The carpet was damp and the wood floor underneath the bed was buckling (likely due from water). We left.

Location and amenities!

Building is ancient. so floors are sloped. Kinda weird. Bed was just essentially a mattress on the floor. So getting in and out of it sucked. But the room was awesome otherwise and the bed was super comfortable otherwise.

Being near the water and the surf vibes

The staff were so young, pleasant, but no one cleaned, no one was ever at the front desk. The back deck area is a mix of seating and the garbage area. The drinks were sub par and in plastic cups.

The heating /cooling system in the Gabkes was awful. We could not properly regulate the room temperature. For --- a night, this was unacceptable.

The location was perfect..walking distance to everywhere! First time mother/daughter getaway and staying at the Beach House!!!! A tradition has started and we will back every year! Love the old time charm of the hotel!Perfect all around!!

Beautiful location

went with ocean view room for $20 more. It was a dormer attic/3rd floor room right above kitchen hood vent so the room smelled like fried food and the hood was loud. ALSO ALMOST EVERY ROOM IN THIS HOTEL IS OCEAN VIEW. Should let folks know it's 3rd fl

I loved the access to the beach! Parking for my car was a plus. The quaintness of the old time Block Island Hotel mixed with beautiful beach on one side and the active town life on the other side was also fun!

Well I understand it was off season, but I felt the front desk staff was alittle unprofessional a few times. It's a very casual island and this being my 35 th year visiting ~ I do understand the vibe so possibly I'm being a little critical...

The location was great, and the hotel does have some charm.

No air conditioning - - - very poor air circulation in the room - - had to leave the door open to get cross ventalation

Loved the pool did not use it but happy there is a pool for future bookings also loved the availability of beach chairs and lounge chairs on the beach for guests if the hotel!

Didn’t realize there was multiple sites for this hotel was expecting to be in the main house….wasn't disappointed but surprised

Shabby chic property with the one of the beg views on the island. Very old house covered into a hotel with steep stairs and paper thin walls. So would recommend depending on the price you have to pay. Don’t expect high end.

Great location, nice porch, across from the pool. Could walk down to the beach. Love their bar overlooking the water. Nice area for biking

Perfect location and setting

Liked Everything but when we first arrived to check in were brought to a different room than I had booked. Front desk staff were understanding however and after a bit of time our correct Room was ready.

The location was great, the view from our room was excellent.

An elevator, we were on the second floor and the stairs are very steep.

the location and accommodations were perfect, we would look to stay again, every time we are there.

housecleaning staff were all very pleasant, but did not feel that there was much of a cleaning done during the stay

I liked everything! Setting and ambiance inside and out is amazing. Beautiful views, great staff, walkable, great restaurant on site and others nearby .

We love the location, both in town and on the beach. The Surf has a cool small hotel vibe. The room was comfortable and the bar on the porch was friendly with a gorgeous view. Staff were all accommodating.

Nothing really. We did have a king room with ocean view which was very comfortable but on fourth floor so the three flights of stairs were a lot. Next time we will ask for the second floor which we had last year. They did carry our bags up before we returned to check in.

Underwhelming

Appeared worn, no curb appeal. No coffee appliance in room. Staff uninformed about use of pool. No beach attendant. Beach sand was full of seaweed, uncared for. Have stayed here years ago and property appeared “loved and taken care of” back then.
