Pros +
- The rooftop bar was lovely (although my drink had a little too much ginger bitters and it overwhelmed the bourbon).
- Very nice and clean hotel. Staff was great. Great location, close to restaurants and pubs.
- This hotel is a dream. It is a long standing icon in the city of York and it is fabulous. It is in the middle of all the wonderful restaurants and specialty shops. The minute you walk in you are greeted by staff that are always polite.
Cons -
- The elevators were a little slow.
- Water pressure in the show was underwhelming, and the shower head was positioned very low- a tall person would have a difficult time showering.
- My burger came absolutely cold. The fries were hot but the waiter-very great guy ( kind African American excellent waiter) immediately had one made again pronto.

The hotel lobby and bar were both elegant and welcoming. The history of the hotel was fascinating. It was a really nice place to stay.
Love the room the updates, the staff.

Much more interesting to stay in a downtown location with various restaurants, entertainment, etc within walking distance
The service was great. Staff was very helpful and friendly
I wish there had been some type of breakfast. hot would have been great but even Continental would have been ok.
We reserved this hotel based on the location for our volleyball tournament at York Expo Center. I loved the original mural and chandelier were used dated back from 1925. Knowing that Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Lucille Ball slept here felt specia.
Two complaints: 1) Extra Dirty Martini with Grey Goose; was golden brown vs clear. 2) Protein Breakfast Platter: dry meats weren¿t fresh as well as hard broiled eggs.
Beautiful old hotel with many original elements of woodwork, lighting, etc
This old hotel does not have the modern amenities of the new hotels
Room was a little run down with a comforter w holes in it and a drippy shower
Only staff. They were courteous and helpful enough.
Did not like the ambience. Very run down and not done any maintenance for a long long time. The beds were very uncomfortable, wall papers were peelimg, mold near the sink, bathtub had stains with leaking taps, the carpets were dirty.
Had to pay extra to park in a garage across the street! The entire place is really run down and dirty....
Elegant and stately building that has many wonderful features. Nice and quiet for sleeping in day which is great for us night shift workers.
The $10 a day parking was a bit of a bummer. Not much availabe to eat within walking distance.
What is there to say? This is a very old historic hotel that is still operating. The furnishings, bed and other amenities are somewhat dated. The room was clean. The bathroom and shower are rather small.
Biggest issue is that there is no parking at the hotel. Parking is an additional fee and you have to park across the street in the parking garage. There is also nothing nearby (convenience store, etc..) so I recommend stopping first before check in.
The charm of this hotel was wonderful. Cannot wait to see what the upgrades will be. I grew up in York and had never stayed here before. Although the hotel was built in 1937 and needs some upgrading, you could tell the staff cared and did what they could.
There were some wear and tear with the furniture and carpeting in my room. But, everything was clean and in decent repair for the age.
Not much. It's very old
It needs renovations badly. It's not in a very good area of York
The character - the vintage feel.
It is becoming run down. We stayed here a couple years ago and things were nicer. The cost of coffee in the cafe was horribly high, as well.
History. Restaurant has great breakfast menu:: french toast was outstanding. The hotel is need of renovation. Carpets are stained, drapes tattered. This is potentially anfour star hotel that in its current state struggles to maintain 2 1/2.
Needs renovation.
no doubt it has a lot of charm but needs a lot of upgrading aside from the fact that the pictures in the website are very deciving who ever rated this hotel 2 and half stars must have been dreaming I've camped in better tents
At $---- I would have been fine with this stay.
In a dangerous part of town. Not safe to leave car on street so you are forced to pay $10 parking. Hotel should be closed until they do complete remodel.
