The vibe and location. The one staff person I talked to was excellent over the phone. Mike was very helpful and answered all my questions, provided input regarding the area and made sure we were all set upon arrival.
After you book and pay you find out it’s no longer a hotel. You have to go 2 blocks up the road to get your check in packet. Then when you get back the key fogs to get in the building don’t work. You have to bang on the door and hope someone inside staying there hears you and let you in. Or wait for simmering leaving to let you in. I called the property management company 4 times, left a message…. No one ever called or messaged back. The door wasn’t being fixed until we were checking out over 12 hours later!
The keys didn’t work and no one answered
Clean/location to ferry services
Extremely bright in the morning. Could use some shades in our room.
No breakfast offered. Great location next to Jet Express.
Rooms look dated, peeling paint, water stains, stained tub. Could use a pool.
Mike, the property manager was very accommodating, we booked two different rooms for two nights and after we checked out after the first night he immediately told us when our room was ready for the next check in. Also, great location, a lot of nice bars literally right across the street and a cool street festival with live music right outside the main entrance.
Rooms were kind of small, but fine for two people. Didn't bother us because we were into it. But if you're looking for a quiet place this may not be the place for you as the band played outside the hotel until about 11:15 Saturday night.
We did not get the room we requested and there was no one onsite to help us.
I requested a queen duplex, my understanding was there was supposed to be 2 queen beds and we only had one full size bed. So we had to make other accommodations for my daughter to stay with a friend because she had no where to sleep.
Very clean and comfortable room, fantastic proximity to attractions
The basket to drop off room keys and parking passes at checkout was missing
I love the old style of the hotel. The lobby is beautiful. We had a room with a separate bedroom and living room, each with their own tv. There is a microwave and a refrigerator in the room. The location is great - a short walk to the ferry (saves parking fees) & near many good restaurants/bars downtown. There is no check person on site - you pick up a check-in packet a couple blocks from the hotel. This wasn't a problem as we stopped on the way to the hotel. The process is simple and quicker than waiting in line and checking in with a person.
Like many old hotels, the bathrooms are small, but it would help to have a shelf above the pedestal sink to set personal items.
I picked this location because of the proximity to the ferry to put in bay. When we had problem with the room, It was corrected quickly. The new room was much nicer
There was no one at the reception desk the whole time we were there. We had to go to the other property to get our issue resolved. The issue was, I paid for a suite and got a closet with a bed and bathroom in it.
Clean room
Walls were to thin, could hear the next door renter snoring. No cold water in both the bathroom sink and shower.Right next to a bar that had loud music. No staff onsite.
Comfortable, cozy place with good A/C, very clean.
I didn’t like that keys had to be picked up at a separate building for check in
Beautiful old building, clean and comfortable room, convenient location with parking. Good food options nearby, great access to scenic shores.
I visited in January during the off season. I was directed to a rental office to pick up a packet from a lockbox, then, following the map in the packet, I drove to the hotel property, and parked out front. I was directed to use a code and key fob for access, so I let myself in the front door and stepped back in time. A century hotel that has hosted presidents and celebrities throughout history, the decor is luxe historical, it's a gorgeous old building.I was literally alone in the building my entire stay, I never saw another living being from check in to check out. Weirdest hotel stay ever. As a solo traveler I have used Airbnbs, so following the directions in the packet was straightforward enough, but rattling around in an empty old hotel was very odd. No staff, no other guests that I saw. Good thing I don't spook easily. I feel like I was the ghost haunting the building. But I still enjoyed my stay, a night in a clean, comfortable room full of history. Just very weird.
Perfect location very clean room and the bed was very comfortable. I've already booked again for next NYE
Parking was tight and had we gotten there later I'm not sure if we would have found a spot but this was probably do to the snow covering the lines so people were often in 2 spots
appreciated room upgrade , enjoyed our stay, housekeeping left plenty of towels
looks like some of the renovations are not completed. unpainted drywall missing trim. hall light not working
No breakfast, hotel was right across the street of venue!
Running around trying to find way to enter building. No staff was available. Door code was a problem. After that all was well
Great location
The heater was very loud making sleep difficult. It was very cold outside. The temperature was in the teens.
Historic building. Location. Roomy and comfortable! This is our second time staying here
Bedroom was a little chilly due to older windows but had insulated curtains that helped
