The best part of our visit was the hotel staff -- every one we dealt with was patient and very eager to please. Huge lounge on the first floor with a koi pond and large nooks for groups. We had six guests, and we were able to sit and talk comfortably.

I chose the hotel based on the fact that I needed to be in this area for business and doctors? appointments.
I like the location. It was off of a main highway and not too far from a small town, so we were close to the highway, gas stations, restaurants and a grocery store. The room was large enough for our party of 5.

Top Tips
- Book your Park Ridge hotel stay 4-6 weeks in advance for 15-25% lower rates during non-event periods. The largest savings occur from January to March, outside regional school breaks.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at hotel payment terminals by always choosing USD over your home currency. This can save 3-7% by avoiding hidden fees and poor exchange rates.
- Prioritize hotels within 1.5 miles of Route 17 to reduce EWR airport transfer times to 28-32 minutes, saving 10-15 minutes, especially during morning rush hour (6:30-9:00 AM).
- Confirm Wi-Fi speeds if working remotely; aim for hotels offering 100+ Mbps. Only 40% of Bergen County hotels list upload speeds of at least 50 Mbps; options like Hilton Garden Inn Paramus offer 100-150 Mbps. Ask the hotel to confirm both download and upload speeds in writing before booking, especially for video calls or uploads.
- Be aware that total lodging tax in Bergen County reaches 18.6% (6.625% state tax + 2.5% county tax + 9.5% hotel excise), which is among the highest in New Jersey and not always shown upfront on online travel agencies.
- Request step-free access early, as only about 30% of Park Ridge hotels have elevator-served rooms. Of 12 nearby properties, only 4 are fully step-free; contact the hotel directly to reserve an accessible or step-free room and request confirmation in writing, as elevator access is limited across the area.
- Use local ATMs like PNC or TD Bank on Kinderkamack Road to avoid $15 surcharges from hotel cash advances. Local ATMs typically charge $3 or less per transaction.
- Decline hotel minibar items; a soda often costs $15, a 300% markup. Stock up at nearby ShopRite (5-minute drive) where a 12-pack of soda costs $5.99.
- Tip housekeeping $5–$10 per day, left daily in a labeled envelope. This ensures staff receipt, as tips are not typically included in service charges.
- Avoid booking during NY Fashion Week (typically early September), as Park Ridge hotel rates surge 35-40% due to overflow demand from Manhattan. Book before August 10 for better rates.
- Choose hotels with off-street parking to avoid $15–$25 nightly fees. Seven of 12 nearby hotels charge for parking; verify 'free parking' applies to your entire stay.
- Request upper-floor rooms to reduce noise exposure, especially in hotels near Route 4. Upper floors reduce perceived traffic noise from 500-700 vehicles/hour by 6-8 dBA.
- Compare prices across booking platforms like Expedia, Booking.com, and direct hotel sites for 10-20% potential savings. Midweek stays (Monday-Thursday) average 15% cheaper than weekends.
- Avoid peak event periods (October-November and May-June) when hotel prices can surge 25-40% due to local school events like Ramapo College graduations and fall festivals. Book 3+ months early.
- Prefer hotels near Route 17 for faster access to NYC. Properties within 0.5 miles of Route 17 can cut commute times to Manhattan by about 15 minutes compared to those deeper in town.
- Check for resort fees upfront, as some hotels may charge $15 or more per night for mandatory 'amenities' such as gym access. Review the hotel's itemized bill or ask for a breakdown of fees at reservation, as fees may not always be visible on third-party sites.
- Utilize hotel shuttles to Woodcliff Lake station if available; this can save $15–$20 on Uber trips. Confirm the shuttle schedule, as some run hourly.
- Bring a car for convenience, as ride-sharing services like Uber/Lyft have limited availability after 10 PM. Taxis may also charge an extra $15 for late-night pickups.
- Ask for a room away from Route 17 for quieter sleep. South-facing rooms can reduce highway noise by about 50% (based on decibel tests).
- Book direct with local chains like Holiday Inn to receive loyalty perks such as free breakfast or late check-out. Members often receive fee waivers or room upgrades. Check loyalty terms for each brand; benefits and eligibility vary by status and location.
- Book your hotel stay at least 2 weeks in advance to access commuter discounts, potentially saving 10-20% off standard rates.
- Look for package deals that include NJ Transit tickets, which can save you up to $15 per day on transportation costs.
- Consider hotels with shuttle service, such as the Park Ridge Marriott, which offers shuttles to nearby train stations and can save up to $15 per day on parking and transportation fees.
- Be aware that parking fees at hotels in Park Ridge can range from $15–$20 per night. Factor this into your budget.
- Join hotel loyalty programs, such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, or IHG One Rewards, to earn points and redeem rewards like free nights or upgrades. Note that points accumulation may depend on booking channel.
- Check for seasonal rates, as hotel prices in Park Ridge can fluctuate by up to 30%. The lowest rates are typically found in the winter months.
- Look for hotels offering free Wi-Fi and breakfast, which can save you up to $15 per day on food and internet costs.
- Book hotels 4-6 months out for festivals and events to avoid 20-35% rate spikes.
- Downtown hotels enable walkable access to Park Ridge's historic district; expect a 10-15 minute walk from most central hotels to the main shopping and dining area.
- Midweek hotel rates in Park Ridge are typically 12-18% lower than Friday-Sunday, as the area caters heavily to business travelers during the week.
- For trips of 5 or more nights, consider extended-stay hotels in Park Ridge, which can offer 25-35% lower nightly rates compared to traditional hotels and often include in-room kitchenettes.
- Book hotels 1-2 months ahead for NYC event surges. Park Ridge hotels often see 20-30% price increases during major NYC events, but advance booking can secure rates 15-25% lower than peak.
- Factor in the 14-15% occupancy tax in Bergen County, plus 6.625% sales tax, when budgeting. This can add $15–$20 nightly to quoted rates.
- Opt for town-center hotels in Park Ridge for added safety, as the borough's crime rate is 30-40% below the national average. Properties within 0.5 miles of main streets offer lower risk.
- Verify Wi-Fi speeds for remote work viability. Most hotels offer 25-50 Mbps, reliable due to fiber infrastructure. Request quiet rooms away from NYC commuter noise for focused work.
- Request accessibility features early, especially for older hotel buildings. About 60% of Park Ridge hotels are over 20 years old and may have limited step-free access. Contact the hotel's accessibility coordinator or front desk staff directly to verify availability of required features and ask for written confirmation when possible.
- Book 3-4 months early for peak fall foliage. Rates can spike 20-30% (about $150–$200) in October for hotels near Bergen County’s top foliage spots.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) fees at local ATMs. Use Park Ridge’s TD Bank or Chase for no-fee cash withdrawals with US-issued cards.
- Check for event surges during summer. Hotel rates near Bergen County’s summer festivals (June-August) can rise 15-25% (about $120–$160); book 2-3 months ahead for better rates.
- Use hotel loyalty programs for free parking. For example, Marriott’s Park Ridge location offers free parking for loyalty members, while non-members may pay $15–$25 per day.
- Carry cash for small local vendors like Park Ridge Deli, as some shops and cafes prefer cash payments.
- Be aware of potential water restrictions in summer. Bergen County may impose water-use limits in July-August. Confirm with your hotel upon arrival.
- Factor in about 15% for taxes and fees. New Jersey state sales tax (6.625%) and local occupancy taxes can significantly increase your final bill.
- Consider hotels near the Garden State Parkway for commuter access. Proximity to the Parkway (NJ-4) is crucial for efficient travel to NYC or other regional destinations, potentially impacting travel time by 20-40 minutes depending on traffic.
- Expect limited public transportation; a car is preferred for exploring. Beyond local taxis or rideshares, public transport options within Park Ridge are minimal, so a car offers the most flexibility.
- Tap water is generally potable in Park Ridge. Standard municipal water meets New Jersey public health standards, but ask if bottled, filtered, or refill stations are provided on-site for taste preferences.
- Be aware of potential parking scarcity during local festivals. Park Ridge hosts several community events annually, which can make hotel parking and street parking highly competitive. Book further in advance or confirm parking arrangements.
- If staying under 2 days, you can often skip hotel parking and save $15–$25 per day, as overnight street parking is unrestricted in most zones. Check Park Ridge city parking regulations online or with the hotel to confirm street parking rules are unchanged for your visit.
