Homewood Suites by Hilton - Kalamazoo/Portage, MI

The location

Very run down. The breakfast area is crowded and poor selections

Even with construction & renovation under easy, the hotel was spotless & quiet. Best night of sleep ever.

Everything .. great breakfast, nice room, and staff that checked us in was fantastic.. was super busy at that moment in time but remained pleasant and helpful!

I did not appreciate that we were not informed that the pool was down until check in, and the staff gave us no reason or opening date. We selected this hotel specifically for the pool. The staff was not very friendly, and the room needed a deeper cleaning

Convenient location, kitchenette, cute cocoa bar during the holiday season, overall pretty clean, free waters during your stay was a great bonus.

Bed was a bit firm and sloping towards the center, carpet appeared a little dingy/dirty.

The hotel was clean and the room was very spacious. Breakfast had a lot of choices and the dining area had plenty of available tables

The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The location is off the main road, but close to everything you will need and is central to the Kalamazoo/Portage area.

I had to go to the front desk to get the bedding for the pull out couch as there was none in the closet. No plastic laundry bag in the closet either. Small things, but for an upper mid-tier suite hotel, you shouldn't need to fetch your own bedding.

I was able to on a stove.

When I arrived and got checked in I went to my room, it wasn't vacuumed, or swept and mopped, I didn't have any pot or pans, asked 3 front desk ppl and only 1 of them found a skillet. Dishwasher powder leaves a not feeling on dishes.

The size of the room and the location of the hotel.

Pool was closed. The room wasn't clean. Breakfasts were unimpressive and dinners discontinued. Most of the staff was either unpleasant or annoyed by simple requests. Blame it on Covid? Overall for the money we paid, it was not worth it. Will not return.

Location

The hotel was a disappointment. I chose to spend $50 more per night to stay at this hotel because of the Hilton name. It was not clean, the furniture was worn and tattered, not stocked with tissue and poor customer service

the breakfast was very bad. Covid was certainly the reason it was bad but if they have to put out such poor food they shouldn't put out anything or they should offer a credit of some sort

Not as clean as the last two Homewood Suites we have stayed at. Furniture in room was a little worn.

Breakfast choices were extremely limited. (I have many food allergies.) No gluten free cereals, etc. There were no hot items because of COVID. Had to eat in room

1/4 roll of toilet paper, no garbage bags, no anything. In a nice motel like this you would think that staff would at least check on guests.

The front desk employee, who was brand new and unsupervised, tried to charge me for my pre-paid room! Not cool!

Convience and quality of amenities. The free breakfast was great. We stayed in a suite and it was stocked well.

The shower floor was dirty. There was no explanation on how to use hot tub. The Jets were off and thought it was broken.

The size, layout and cleanliness of the room was excellent. The staff were friendly.

I wish the coffee pot in the room was larger.
