Pros +
- This hotel offers stays that you won't forget. The view from the room (river side) is mesmerizing. The room itself is clean and has excellent facilities; especially the shower is fantastic! Also the location is great: everything in Darien can be reached on foot.
- The bed was extremely comfortable, and the environment was quiet. The room's lighting options were extensive and could accommodate any desire for the amount of light in the sleeping quarters.
- Beautiful location and facilities for a family wedding. Attentive staff and excellent food and drinks. Exceptionally clean rooms well stocked with towels and toiletries in refillable bottles mounted in wall racks to reduce the waste of single-use plastic containers.
Cons -
- Although the stay here was memorable, I personally think it's very expensive.
- The air conditioning unit was not working in the original room and we were moved to another with the assistance of the staff. Unfortunately it was not working in the second room either but we just opened the door and let the breeze blow in.
- The noise level of our room was terrible. Staff were using the door outside of our room until at least 9:30 pm with the sound of slamming doors and people loudly talking until well after midnight, not to forget what sounded like construction in the room above us with sound of furniture scraping floors and people stomping. Would have never booked this room with a partial view of river on the bottom floor or would have went elsewhere. The girl at the front desk on evening shift simply said I must have chosen the cheaper room. We have traveled to 6 different countries and 20 different states in 2024 and am flabbergasted this place was so beautiful on the outside but poor staffing on one shift made what I had looked forward to in a sleepless nightmare. And maybe have a microwave in room?

Location. Room itself was beautiful with higher end amenities. The staff on night shift and the kitchen breakfast crew were amazing.and the shower was fantastic.

I evacuated Florida for Hurricane Milton so we drove and drove and started checking for hotels. Luckily I booked this hotel. We have been very stressed with boarding our home and preparing to evacuate and this hotel was so nice and comfortable it was like heaven for a few days. Loved the room, the view and especially that the dogs were very welcome! That was amazing so many had pets with them and nice to have a place to stay. The bed was so comfortable! The bathroom was Beautiful and shower was amazing! Much needed during this high anxiety time. Thank you again! All of the staff was so nice and helpful also. Always smiling.
Evening was great but a small coffee maker and coffee in the room would be a plus
Oaks on the River is a fantastic resort property. With all the southern charm and hospitality imaginable, this property is nestled in the most picturesque little town of Darien, GA. The hotel staff are amazing, and everyone there seems to strive to make the guests as comfortable as possible. Our stay was due to evacuating from hurricane Milton, but after arriving much of the stress simply disappeared and it became more of a vacation. Our room was very comfortably furnished and impeccably clean. The river view is stunning at dawn as the early morning sun bounces off the gently moving water and gives any naturalist or avid bird watcher a show. Sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee and watching the day start was so relaxing and made us almost forget about why we were there. The hotel has a very nice restaurant, the Oaks Club and Cedar Bar, serving one of the best peach cobblers ever created and offers a nice variety of appetizers and entrees. It is also within walking distance to a variety of quaint art galleries and craft/antique shops and of course, unique dining options. If you ever get a chance to stay here, it is worthwhile to check out Skippers Fish Camp for their shrimp dip and brisket and the Shanty Café for a great cup of coffee and one of the tastiest BLT croissant sandwiches. We cannot wait to return for a nice long weekend!
While this may be a little cliché, there was really nothing we didn't like. There were some minor issues that we experienced, but the staff handled them all with great care and professionalism. When we checked in, our room was not available, not just because it was not ready, but due to an error it seemed it had been taken by another guest. Instead of making it an issue that we had to solve, the staff quickly went through the open inventory and gave us another larger room instead. With the influx of guests due to hurricane Milton, the hotel could have simply said that we were out of luck or demanded an increase in room cost, however they did not and held their error as their problem and did not pass anything more than a smile and a welcome to us as they handed us our room keys.
The property is beautiful and spacious. They are very pet friendly and were so kind and took care of me and my parents while we were there.
The price per night was more than I would have liked to pay especially since I couldn’t find the Sauna and wasn’t able to enjoy any spa services.
Virtually every employee went out of their way to enhance our experience from the desk personnel to the restaurant waitress, the bartender and the maids. The room was exceptionally clean, the beds and linens were very comfortable.
Beautiful place to stay and breathtaking views Restaurant had wonderful food and staff
It was a beautiful hotel with very bright and cheerful faces, never lacking in conversation and full of interesting information about the town. They even provided a dog bed on request
Not a thing.
Breakfast special was good and inexpensive ..butOnly one piece of toast given$3 extra for a cup of coffee Happy Hour is one of the best I’ve ever been toBartender Michael is terrific Pool area is very nice and the river view is awesome The hotel has membership for the pool for the condo next door and the local community So on the weekends especially lots of little kids and families at the pool and all lounge chairs were taken
The person at check in was preoccupied with his phone and didn’t seem to know what his job wasThe welcome glass of champagne is nice but the little bottles of water in the room are $2 eachThe rooms are dark and the bathrooms are dangerous. The glass walk in shower is slippery and there are no grab bars. Pool towels aren’t easily available. You have to get them at the front desk on the first floor while pool entrance is the floor belowNo coffee available in the morning in the lobbyLinen and towels are far from fancyAC is noisy 24/7No daily housekeeping even after being requested The place is grossly overpriced
Oaks on the River is a very well built, clean, comfortable and convenient boutique hotel. The room, food and atmosphere were excellent and were more than affordable! ? The staff all seemed happy and relaxed. Which says so much for the ownership and management.
Close to town / convenient / clean / views were ok.
Breakfast was great. Beautiful view of the river. Jenny took real good care of us. We enjoyed meeting Milton the Hotel manager. Wonderful stay with great staff.
Great location, with a wonderful on-site restaurant & bar, and free on-site parking. The decor of the hotel is beautiful, very "boutique-y" in the best sense of the word. The room is large, quiet and very functional (great large refrigerator, and lots of outlets for phones, laptop, etc.).
The chairs in the restaurant while beautiful and comfortable, are a couple of inches too low for the height of the tables.
Everything was truly wonderful! Many good restaurants close by and the hotel restaurant was very nice! Rooms were clean and comfortable! The manager ( I didnt get her name) was such a joy and very professional and accomodating!
The only issue we had was one waitress at the restaurant was not very attentive to us and we felt ignored. We were just two people and ordered appetizers and felt she was more attentive to her bigger tables. We would have tipped her quite generously otherwise but did not.
The room was nice and well appointed, note that the bottles of the water in the room will cost you $2 if you partake. The restaurant and bar was very nice, albeit that they seemed to cater more to the locals than guests. We felt that our service was slow at best, but competent.
The accounting of the motel seems to have issues. We booked through booking.com. Upon arrival and check-in, we were immediately presented with a cost that did not match booking.com. This was questioned and seemed to be handled. After leaving the hotel, a few days later, I found an odd charge to my card. I called to question this and was told it was taxes and a RESORT FEE !!! Beware !!! The taxes were charged to me via Booking.com. After 3 calls, I have yet to speak with someone with enough authority to handle this issue. The little bit of luxury is not worth the pain they have created.
The breakfast was delightful! We sat in a sun lit dining room overlooking the river and watching the fishermen leave early for what promised to be a great day on the water. The service was accommodating and the food was great.
There was an exhaust vent I believe from the kitchen that was noisy. However the front desk was very helpful by offering us a room further away and did it with a smile.
Dog friendly, good location
No one answered the phone when I called to check availability. I went through booking.com since I couldn't get a hold of anyone. Booked 1 riverview king bed room instead on arrival got 2 standard beds for the same price and staff claimed it was an "upgrade" when I asked. The room we were given didn't have a great riverview and was directly next to a ton of A/C units which were extremely loud. The room service phone did not work at all, no one ever came to fix it. TV casting did not work at all. After 2 hours of trying we gave up, then found out in the morning it was a wifi issue the hotel was experiencing. I would guess we were given this room because someone else complained about it so we were demoted and they probably got our room? I wouldn't return for the price.
All staff was nice and professional. The room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. Our room was a riverview with magnificent sunsets.
There was nothing that we did not like.
