Proximity to family and events. Front desk quick to respond but housekeeping not good. Breakfast was good.
The price was very reasonable. We unexpectedly needed to stay overnight due to a medical issue. Perfect location! The spa (hot tub) was small but I greatly appreciated it!! The pillows and blanket were heavenly. I slept all night, very comfortable!

The price and it was just as nice as the hotels that are trying to charge you triple the price for the same thing
Close to the train station
The hotel was under major construction, it was a crummy hotel, and the price was high for what a crappy hotel it wall. The breakfast was not good, there was not much room in the lobby to sit. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had.

I especially enjoyed, after having to call the police for 3 employees entering my room without my knowledge, going on my phone, stealing my money, and my jewelry; that the window they took out of its frame and left propped up against it fell onto my dog

Top Tips
- Book Hamden hotels 30–90 days ahead for Yale or Quinnipiac academic events, including graduation and move-in weekends, as last-minute availability is limited and prices often rise close to these dates.
- Driving from Hamden to the New Haven Green takes 10–25 minutes off-peak; local CT Transit buses typically require 25–45 minutes. Most buses are wheelchair accessible, but verify schedules in advance, especially on weekends.
- Most Hamden hotels include free on-site parking, offering $15–$40 daily savings compared to downtown New Haven garages. Some properties offer EV charging - confirm availability and parking restrictions when booking during major campus events.
- Driving from Hamden hotels to Yale New Haven Hospital typically takes 10–20 minutes. Hospital parking can reach capacity during visiting hours, so confirm parking options or shuttle services with the hospital before your arrival.
- Explore Sleeping Giant State Park with its major trailheads 3–12 minutes by car from central Hamden hotels. The park is open 8:00 to sunset and does not require hiking permits, but parking can fill quickly on weekends, so arrive early for best access.
- Call your hotel in advance to request an accessible room, as many Hamden properties are low-rise with ground-floor access but may differ in features like step-free entry, accessible bathrooms, or elevators.
- Expect lower nightly rates at Hamden hotels outside major event periods. If walkability to downtown dining or rail at Union Station is essential, compare with New Haven options - midweek rates there can be $30–$70 higher, but may save on transport costs.
- U.S. hotels typically place a hold of $50–$200 on your card for incidentals at check-in; this amount is released after check-out if unused. Confirm the authorization amount with your hotel to avoid surprises.
