The Malibu Motel

Closeness to the beach.

Room had unbearable smell and the fact that it was on ground floor meant it couldn’t really be aired. Unfortunately there was no staff available in person to address it and communication via email stopped as soon as I mentioned it.

It's location is great, however it's not right next to the beach--it's across a busy highway.

The ice machine was not working. The man at the front desk only worked part-time and seemed detached from the motel.

Everything was dirty and out of date, the bed was uncomfortable, the walls were thin so all the noise through the night from the main roads made it hard to relax. Overall not worth the money!

Location!! Right on PCH and close to beach access!

It is very very loud. You can hear the PCH traffic all day and night. But nothing ear plugs can’t fit!

The room was small but apparently renovated. It looked clean.

Noise! Noise! Noise. Going to Malibu I expected sleep at the sound of waves, instead, I felt like sleeping next to a Freeway!. The "Hotel", that looks like more like a Motel, is by the California 1, car noise all night. And the other guests noise also.

We spent the day hitting the state parks in Malibu. The hotel was a great location. The price was great compared to the high end hotels near by. An inexpensive upgrade to an ocean view was worth it. Very clean!

I was given the key to the room and it was dirty. The bed wasn't made and clearly staff had not been by yet. They should keep better track of room availability.

There was a miscellaneous $30 charge two days after I stayed. I called the front desk to inquire about it and was told it was "probably extra tax". This is unlikely since I was told such delayed charge was uncommon.

Staff was great, location was great, nice updated room with view, great price. I'd stay here again!

Only negative was it was difficult getting out of driveway bc of busy road but that's unavoidable.

It's right on the PCH; after 2AM you can hear waves crashing on the surf from the room. Also next to a supermarket, liquor store/surf shop and The Malibu Cigar Lounge, where we hung out and watched the baseball playoffs. 8 miles 2 Paradise Cove Beach.

We had some noisy neighbors who looked like they were from central casting for "Blue Velvet" the movie.

Right next door to a "Whole Food" type market. Lots of good stuff to take back to the room.Room had small refrigerator.Clean, well stocked bathroom.

Very noisy from the traffic on the highway. Wi Fi didn't work.Floor very dirty.Blinds on sliding door broken.No coffee maker.

We arrived on Sunday, Sept. 13th which was the day we were to stay overnight. However the room that was shown to us was nothing more than a large closet immediately adjacent to the Pacific Coast Highway. Moreover there was no air conditioning.

Location and price and availability

Allows dogs but nowhere to walk them in the near vicinity. No air conditioning.

The hotel was very open and clean. It was very basic and minimalistic.

There was no coffee.

Location to my SoCal family was perfect. Plenty of activities within short distance.Of course the mesmorizing malibu beaches.Ease of checkin/out even for me not tech savyPlaces to eat,buy snacks for room,newly opened organic grocery store and the fantastic tasting all organic D'Amore pizza all within couple blocks walking distance

Actually not having in person contact with staff but thats not a knock. It was more of a timing issue on my arrival.(caveat Staff was available by text seemless in my stay as to my needs)Road construction in area made it difficult to find entrance but any map ap will get you right there to a beautiful updated mid century modern place to stay

Nice location. Walkable to coffee shops, restaurants, beaches, and the pier.
