Horrible! The room smelled bad,it wasn't groomed, the paint was peeling. The staff was rude and took too long to do anything and had a bad attitude.
The staff there was beyond helpful, any question we had or issue we had they were prompt, friendly and extremely customer oriented. We had a medical emergency that caused us to need to leave early and the staff made sure everything was good to go for us.

Top Tips
- Book beachfront hotels by March for peak summer savings; prices jump 40-60% from April through August, while off-season (September to November) offers 20-30% discounts. Early booking also improves access to waterfront view rooms, which are in highest demand.
- Verify downtown parking fees before booking; hotels near the Riverwalk often charge $15-25 USD per day, but Midtown hotels (a 5-minute drive) or select B&Bs may offer free parking. Ask if hotels provide EV charging or accessible parking options.
- Choose North Wrightsville Beach for quieter stays, as the south end (near Oceanic Restaurant) records 20% higher nighttime noise levels until 11 PM. Request a room away from public spaces to further reduce noise disturbances.
- Request ground-floor rooms in historic districts like downtown; many inns lack elevators, so confirming accessibility ensures easier navigation. When booking, confirm features such as step-free entry or visual alarms to meet specific accessibility needs.
- Check for hurricane waiver policies from June through November; some coastal hotels impose non-refundable deposits, but chains like Marriott may offer flexible 'act of nature' clauses. State or city emergency declarations can affect refund rules, so verify policy details during booking.
- Use loyalty programs for free breakfast at mid-range chains; Hilton Honors members, for example, can waive $15-18 USD per day breakfast fees at Homewood Suites Wilmington. Bring or download your program membership card or app for quick verification at check-in.
- Avoid booking direct for boutique hotels, as third-party sites often provide 10-15% discounts at independents like the Wilmingtonian. However, some amenities or flexible cancellation terms may only be available when booking direct, so compare all perks beyond just the price.
- Prefer newer hotels built after 2015 for reliable Wi-Fi, with typical speeds of 50 Mbps or more; older downtown B&Bs often dip below 10 Mbps. You can also request a Wi-Fi speed test or a room near routers to ensure a stronger connection.
- Confirm beach gear inclusions with your hotel; some Wrightsville Beach properties provide free chairs and umbrellas, saving you about $30 USD per day on rentals. If needed, ask about accessible beach equipment such as beach wheelchairs.
