The location was the only thing I liked about the hotel.
Seems newly renovated and well maintained. We stay often in SLO as parents of a current Cal Poly student and alumni ourselves. We have never stayed at this hotel. We will definitely return to this location.
The hotel property and rooms were very clean. The location was convenient and our room was on the 4th floor with a balcony and view of the bluffs. We had a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom had double sinks. Free breakfast was good!

Where to stay in San Luis Obispo
Learn about the top neighbourhoods of San Luis Obispo
One of California's oldest communities, San Luis Obispo gets its name from the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, a historic house of worship founded here in 1772. If you have kids along for the ride, there's the San Luis Obispo Children's Museum. Halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, this is a good stopping off point for drivers along the Pacific Coast Highway. There's an Amtrak station downtown, and San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Top Tips
- Reserve your San Luis Obispo hotel 6 to 12 weeks in advance for regular weekends. For Cal Poly Commencement in mid-June or major events, rates and occupancy can spike, so book 10 to 12 weeks ahead to secure your preferred room type.
- Select hotels within 0.3 to 0.6 miles of Higuera Street to stay a 5 to 12 minute walk from Mission San Luis Obispo, Main Street dining, and the Amtrak bus stop, which reduces the need for a car. If accessibility is required, check that local sidewalks and crossings meet your needs.
- Use San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP) for the fastest city access. SBP is about 3 miles from downtown, with a typical taxi or rideshare transfer taking 5 to 10 minutes. Rideshares, taxis, and some hotels offer shuttle services from SBP.
- Verify your hotel's parking policy before booking. City meters have short-term limits and are enforced, and onsite parking may be included or cost $15 to $30 per day. Ask about accessible or EV parking if needed to avoid issues.
- San Luis Obispo municipal tap water is potable, so bring a refillable bottle to reduce single-use plastic. Many hotels offer water stations for easy refills and the water meets state quality standards.
- Consider your lodging location if you plan to visit top attractions: Pismo Beach is a 20 minute drive (12 to 15 miles), and Paso Robles wine region is about 40 to 50 minutes away (30 to 35 miles). For non-drivers, check for public transit or group tour options.
- Request a higher floor or Mission-facing room to minimize noise on weekend nights, especially in the Higuera or Mission Plaza area. If you are noise sensitive, specify this during booking to help secure a quieter room.
- If you need step-free entry or a roll-in shower, request and confirm an accessible room when booking. Many historic downtown hotels were built before ADA standards, so call ahead to verify lift access and specific bathroom features.
