By far the nicest Clarion I have ever been in. Excellent front desk. Large wine selections and nice restaurant (we did not eat there however). This is NOT your US Clarion. Location is right by train station.
This hotels design is beautiful. Very clean and love the choice of colors in the very pop art way

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 45-60 days before arrival to save approximately 18% on average rates, with typical savings of €14-€23 (approx. $15-$25 USD) per night for 3-4 star hotels. Check if your rate includes breakfast, as advance rates sometimes exclude this option in Slovakia.
- Prioritize Old Town (Staré Mesto) for walking access to 92% of tourist attractions within 1.2 km, and benefit from 60% fewer nighttime safety incidents such as petty theft or noise disturbances compared to Petržalka. Ask hotel desk staff about local safety updates before your arrival.
- Budget an additional 13% VAT and a city tax of €1.50-€2.50 per person per night, as these are often excluded from initial online quotes. This can add €20-€35 (approx. $22-$38 USD) per night for two; ask at check-in for a breakdown of taxes and fees, and note some Slovak hotels may request payment for these taxes in cash.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) when paying by card at hotels to avoid a 4-7% hidden fee; always choose to be charged in the local currency (EUR). If unsure, confirm with reception that the card terminal will bill in EUR.
- Request an inward-facing or above 4th-floor room in Old Town hotels to reduce noise by 40-50%, as 73% of street-facing rooms are exposed to tram noise exceeding 65 dB at night. Confirm whether rooms have double-glazed windows to further reduce noise impact in central Bratislava.
- Use ATMs located inside banks (e.g., VUB, Tatra Banka), which charge €1.50-€2.50 (approx. $1.60-$2.70 USD) per withdrawal, significantly less than the €4-€6 (approx. $4.30-$6.50 USD) at station kiosks. ATMs inside banks are usually considered safer as well; avoid street kiosks late at night.
- Verify Wi-Fi speed upon booking if working remotely, as 4-star hotels average 40-60 Mbps, while older 3-star properties average 28 Mbps with uploads often below 10 Mbps. Ask if the hotel provides dedicated workspaces or a business center, as many 4-star hotels in Bratislava now offer this.
- Skip hotel laundry services and use self-service options like the Laundromat on Šancová 87, which offers washes for €3 (approx. $3.20 USD) and dries for €2 (approx. $2.15 USD), saving 150-300% over hotel rates. Some hotels have partnerships or discounts at nearby laundromats, so ask at reception for recommendations.
- Confirm step-free access explicitly in historic hotels, as only 31% of those in Staré Mesto are fully accessible. Ask if accessible bathroom features—such as grab rails or roll-in showers—are available, and request photos of the route from street to room if mobility is a concern.
- Tip 5-10% only for extended room service or specific concierge requests, such as securing sold-out event tickets. Leaving small change is appreciated for exceptional service, but not customary for standard check-in, luggage, or breakfast services.
- Avoid August if budget-sensitive, as hotel prices surge 22-38% during festivals like ATYP IFF. Book 90+ days ahead if attending, and confirm in advance if amenities such as hotel restaurants or parking will be available, as festival periods may affect these services.
- Carry bottled water in summer (June-August), as 12% of hotels report intermittent low-pressure tap water, especially in high-rises. Bottled water costs €0.60-€1.20 (approx. $0.65-$1.30 USD) per liter; check if your hotel provides complimentary bottled water, especially in higher-category rooms or during heat waves.
