Pros +

• The decorationa stone wallwas better than average. Beds were too soft, blankets too thin. The room had air-conditioning, which, being early spring, we didnt need. At least it was relatively clean.

Cons -

• I used to travel to Bratislava frequently and stayed at this hotel often. I hadnt been in a few years and mistakenly assumed the hotel would be the same as it looked in the pictures. Not so much. Seems like its gone to seed, shifting its focus to budget travelersand it shows. But the worst was the lack of amenities. For example, the hotel didnt serve breakfast. Imagine my surprise when all I found at 7 a.m. was a locked door and an empty dining room. Later, I learned that if you wanted breakfast, you had to book it well in advance. Ive stayed at plenty of mediocre hotels in small towns, but this was a first. It wouldve been nice if the room at least had a kettle. But nojust a couple of glasses and nothing else. It also didnt help that there were no restaurants or cafs within walking distance. So I had to get in my car, drive to the train station (park illegally), and hunt down something to break my fast. What a pain. And then the parkingtight and limited. I lucked out when someone pulled out just before I arrived. Otherwise, I wouldve had to park in the garage, which required staff assistance to access. Of course, no one was at the reception desk to open the gate. Also, signs screaming 100 EUR fine for smoking! posted everywhere did nothing to make one feel welcome.
