The service and the room
The hotel setting right beside the river is one of it's best features. We could open the window and listen to the water run. The tables and chairs by the river were a great feature.
Manager was so accommodating. He took very good care of us and recommended restaurants offering discounts.

The rooms are in the process of being remodeled. This has improved the vibe of the place. It has a mini fridge and freezer. Having a freezer is not common in hotel rooms. The room was clean and in a good location in the small town.
Location was great and the front desk staff was amazing!!!
Very friendly staff and excellent location. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops and the grocery store. Itâ≢s nice to have a full kitchen and real coffee pot. The fireplace was nice too.

Red River is a beautiful mountain community.
I loved the quaint, old school feel, the adjoining rooms, the location on the main street, the restaurant right downstairs, the coffee and sitting areas upstairs.

Location and Staff
It's a classic New Mexico hotel. Lots of charm. The courtyards are great for bringing my dog. The dog fee is fair.

Clean and recently redone room. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Cafe on site... discount for hotel guests.
The gentleman who checked me is was so nice and friendly!
This is clearly a 2 star to 2.5 star hotel. It should have never been graded a 3 star. Also, it was way too expensive a hotel for 3 star.

We booked the kachina suite and it was very spacious. It even had a hot plate and some basic pots and pans and dishes. The suite had two large heating/ cooling units to keep it nice and cool at night and make lots of white noise.
Love the room and decor.

Top Tips
- Red River sits at 8,700-8,750 feet elevation. Hydrate regularly and limit strenuous activity during your first 24 hours, as common altitude symptoms like headache or shortness of breath often develop within 6-24 hours. Allow time to acclimate before mountain excursions.
- Demand for lodging surges 50-100% during peak weeks, including Christmas, New Year’s, and major summer festivals. To secure your preferred room type and maximize savings, book at least 60-90 days in advance if visiting during these high-traffic periods.
- Several hotels on or near Main Street, such as Red River Lodge, include complimentary shuttle service to the ski slopes. Using the hotel shuttle can save $15 to $30 per day on parking costs; verify shuttle schedules in advance, especially outside peak ski hours.
- Most inns and cabins in Red River provide only one parking space per room, with additional local or municipal parking often restricted during storms or festivals. Confirm your hotel or cabin’s parking policy and be prepared for limited availability due to periodic snow clearance.
- Early booking is recommended if you require a ground-floor or accessible room. Many Red River accommodations are lodges or cabins that may lack elevators, so confirm step-free or accessible room features before arrival to ensure suitability for your needs.
- Internet speeds can vary, with some properties like Red River Inn offering averages of 15-25 Mbps, but speeds may slow during peak ski periods. For consistent remote work, check with your hotel about their typical speeds and consider a personal Wi-Fi hotspot as a backup.
- Restaurant hours often shorten in the off-season, with many kitchens closing by 8-9 pm and some unavailable on weekdays. For late arrivals or off-peak visits, plan to purchase groceries or identify restaurants with extended hours in advance.
- Expect a town occupancy tax of approximately 7-9% added to your nightly rate, standard across Red River lodging. Confirm the exact tax during booking to budget accurately.
- Booking a room with a kitchenette can reduce your daily food costs by 30-50%, especially during busy or off-peak periods when restaurant access may be limited. Verify kitchenette availability to maximize savings and flexibility.
- Pet-friendly policies in Red River often limit dog weight, with many setting a 25 lb maximum or restricting specific breeds, and may add a $15 or higher charge per stay. Always confirm the full policy before booking if traveling with pets.
