Really enjoyed my stay. Rooms were spacious, and bed was super comfortable. Just missing the ironing board and iron that were supposed to be in the room. The courtyard was great for relaxing and the pool was great to cool down in.

The hotel staff were very professional and prompt. The hotel lobby smells fantastic.
The hotel was exploitative and all they cared about was money. Their treatment was very bad, and I do not recommend this hotel at all.
Lobby was nice as were the restaurants.

It was a great experience and the staff was so kind and helpful at every point. I loved how they showed off the hotel and would talk about the history. There's plenty of shops and food around the hotel, and easy to get to transit as well.
Amazing location â≠close to everything. Beautiful historical property. Housekeeping was good. So was the restaurant.

Top Tips
- Book Istanbul hotels 2-4 months in advance for June to August stays to access rates 15-25% lower than close-in bookings. Rates often increase 25-45% during major festivals like Istanbul Jazz Festival; compare prices before reserving to secure best value.
- Original passport presentation is mandatory at hotel check-in for local registration, as hotel staff are legally required to capture guest details. Have your passport (not a copy) ready to avoid check-in delays, especially after 20:00 when supervisor support may be limited.
- Light sleepers benefit from booking interior or sound-insulated rooms, especially near İstiklal Caddesi where street noise can continue past 02:00 and mosque calls to prayer occur five times daily. Confirm soundproofing (typical 20-30 dB reduction) if noise is a concern.
- Use approved taxi apps such as BiTaksi or iTaksi and verify fares are metered; ride app estimates usually stay within 10-25% of metered rates. Request e-receipts to track costs and avoid common cash surcharge risks.
- Hotels near Eminönü or Karaköy provide easy access to Bosporus ferries, cutting cross-city transit time by 10-30 minutes during rush hours. Ferries to Kadıköy or Üsküdar depart every 15-25 minutes; confirm the latest schedule with your hotel concierge.
- Confirm step-free or elevator access before booking Ottoman-era boutique hotels. Traditional Sultanahmet properties often have interior stairs only, so request a ground-floor or accessible room when booking if stair use is a concern.
- Ask to be charged in Turkish lira (TRY) instead of your card currency to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) markups of 2-7%. Using lira typically gets you your card’s bank exchange rate; verify the currency on the payment terminal before you pay.
- Business travelers should request a wired or 'business' Wi-Fi connection if needing reliable speeds for remote work. While Istanbul’s citywide median broadband is over 50 Mbps, hotel Wi-Fi may be throttled, so verify your connection speed on arrival if remote access is critical.
- During Ramadan or on national holidays, confirm breakfast and restaurant service times before booking. Daytime hours may shift, and some meal services could pause or move to after sunset.
- Minibar bottled water is rarely complimentary, with hotels often charging 2-5 times supermarket prices. Ask your hotel for complimentary filtered tap water or a kettle to avoid unexpected charges.
- Expect to pay 18% VAT and an additional 1-2% municipal tax on top of quoted hotel rates. These are non-refundable and standard on all hotel stays; Turkish government booking sites display inclusive pricing for easier comparison.
- Standard tipping for hotel staff in Istanbul is 10-15%, higher than the 5-10% norm in much of Europe. A tip of 10-20 TRY per service is customary for bellhops or housekeeping; confirm if service charges have been included on your bill before tipping.
