Very professional and welcoming woman manager when we checked in. She made up for the restaurant being closed on Christmas eve day by giving us vouchers which we could use at the Doubletree a few minutes drive away. The young woman got me my points too.

Room was well equipped and clean. Did not like inability to run heating/cooling system on fan only. Not able to create white nouse , so exterior and hall noises were heard.
As of 2024, this is the newest hotel in the St. Jacobs area, so the rooms are very clean and modern. The gym has very high-end equipment, including the earliest functional trainer I've used in a gym. Continental breakfast is included.
Really enjoyed the good variety for breakfast. Excellent for a 2 & 4 year old. Pool was nice to have for the kids to enjoy after a long day too!

Top Tips
- Book 3-6 weeks in advance for June convocation and late August or early September orientation dates, as rates often rise due to Kitchener-Waterloo university events. This advance window helps secure availability and keep you within typical Cambridge hotel price ranges.
- Verify AODA-accessible room features, such as door width (at least 81 cm), roll-in showers, and elevator access, by calling 48-72 hours before arrival. Many Cambridge hotels list 'accessible room' but may not provide detailed specifications online.
- Confirm air conditioning or room cooling details when booking for June to August, as southern Ontario summer highs typically reach 25-32°C. Some older Cambridge hotels use window units or may have limited cooling, so ask staff which room types guarantee AC.
- Use card or contactless payments in Canadian dollars (CAD) for hotels and local businesses. Non-Canadian cards or out-of-network ATMs generally incur a CAD $1.50-$3.00 (about US $1.10-$2.20, approx.) per-transaction surcharge, plus your bank’s fee; consult your bank’s partner ATM list before arrival.
- Decide by district: Galt offers walkable downtown heritage B&Bs and restaurants within 600 m, while Hespeler and Preston (east and north) provide highway access, chain hotels, and free parking. Book in Galt for car-free stays, or choose outer neighborhoods for easy highway travel.
- Grand River Transit buses connect Cambridge to Kitchener’s ION LRT and GO Transit, with transfers typically taking 15-30 minutes to reach light rail or regional trains. Review morning schedules, as there is no direct LRT stop in Cambridge.
- Allow 60-90 minutes of driving off-peak to reach Toronto Pearson (YYZ) from Cambridge (75-90 km), and up to 120+ minutes in rush hours. Add 30-60 minutes to your planned departure for airport check-ins or unpredictable traffic.
- Before booking downtown Galt hotels, check if on-site guest parking is included or available, as municipal street and lot parking is limited and may incur extra charges. For late arrivals, identify the nearest city lot in advance to avoid delays.
