Where to stay in Mississauga
Learn about the top neighbourhoods of Mississauga
Once a suburb of Toronto, Mississauga's explosive growth has transformed it into one of Canada's largest metropolitan areas. It's one of the region's economic powerhouses, and is home to international corporations like Microsoft, General Electric and Walmart. If you're here for world-class shopping and dining opportunities, Square One Shopping Centre is among the largest in the country. Several top-flight golf courses dot the countryside. About eight miles away is Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Straddling the Macdonald-Cartier Freeway, this mostly commercial area shares a border with Toronto Pearson International Airport. From here you can be at your airline's ticket counter in five minutes. The Mississauga Business District is minutes away, as are the headquarters for many international businesses. When it's time for recreation, there are plenty of pretty parks and a couple of world-class golf courses.

Top Tips
- Confirm airport-shuttle details before booking. The expected wait or transfer window is typically 10-30 minutes, but frequency varies by property and at off-peak hours. Some hotels require at least 24 hours' advance shuttle request; check the hotel app for pickup notifications or call the front desk to confirm exact pickup points and 24/7 availability.
- Use park-and-fly packages for long trips to cut parking costs to about $6-$11 USD (CAD 8-15) per day. Standard nightly hotel parking commonly runs $9-$22 USD (CAD 12-30), making bundled rates a better value. Bundled packages sometimes include free breakfast or extended shuttle hours. Review all package inclusions online before booking.
- Expect a 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) on room charges. Municipal accommodation taxes differ by city; verify your Mississauga bill, as surcharges can save around 4% compared to Toronto stays. Canada requires hotels to itemize HST and any municipal surcharges on your bill for transparency.
- Parking charges at City Centre hotels typically range from $9-$18 USD (CAD 12-25) per night. Onsite parking can add $37-$110 USD (CAD 50-150) per week to your stay. Check if the hotel validates nearby parking or offers discounted rates for loyalty members, and confirm rates at booking if you need parking.
- Stay in City Centre for the shortest walking distance to Square One and transit. Hotels in this area are usually 400-1,000 m (5-12 minute walk) from major attractions and close to City Centre Transitway, GO, and MiWay connections. Many City Centre hotels offer onsite dining and easy access on foot to major shopping and entertainment venues.
- Prefer City Centre or Port Credit for safer evening walking. For late-night walks, choose hotels with onsite dining or shuttle service, or stick to well-lit Celebration Square and Port Credit waterfront areas. Major hotel chains typically provide 24-hour front desk and well-lit entrances; these areas are actively patrolled by municipal police.
- Allow 15-30 minutes driving from City Centre to Pearson Airport off-peak, and 30-60 minutes during rush hours. Taxis and ride-shares to City Centre usually cost $22-$33 USD (CAD 30-45), depending on traffic. Public transit via GO bus connects City Centre and Pearson in under 35 minutes off-peak.
- If you need stable video calls, request 'business-grade' Wi-Fi or pay for premium at check-in. If you require 10 Mbps or higher upload speeds for meetings, ask for a business-floor room or upgraded connection and test upon arrival. Business centres are available at many leading hotels if in-room Wi-Fi is insufficient.
- Request accessible rooms in advance. Newer airport and City Centre chains generally provide step-free access and roll-in showers, while older motels may lack full roll-in options. Major Canadian hotel brands are legally required to disclose accessibility features in online listings, so confirm these features in your reservation notes.
- Mississauga tap water is potable; buying bottled water is for convenience, not health. The Region of Peel treats drinking water to provincial standards, making it safe to drink. Complimentary refill stations are common in newer hotels and fitness centres.
- Book hotels with EV chargers if you need charging, as in-hotel chargers are not yet ubiquitous. Public EV chargers are concentrated near Square One; several top brands partner with ChargePoint or Flo for their stations. Filter listings or call the property to confirm availability and any fees.
- Pay in CAD to avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) and extra fees. If offered payment in your home currency at checkout, choose to be charged in CAD to avoid the merchant’s DCC margin. If your credit card offers no foreign transaction fees, you may save even more.
