Walking distance to everything. Especially the amazing park directly across the street.
Nothing. The staff was brutal and simply didn¿t care about the parking issue. After a long day of travel and wanting to check in they didn¿t care about telling me to come back in three or so hours (after a hockey game) to check in late that night!

Top Tips
- Wildfire season from July to September often results in poor air quality in Kamloops. Choose a room with in-room air conditioning and tight-sealing windows, or request a portable air purifier where available to reduce smoke exposure. For added comfort, confirm availability with your front desk or host before arrival.
- Hotel stays in Kamloops incur a 5% federal GST plus a Municipal & Regional District Tax (MRDT) up to 3%, totaling about 8% above the advertised room rate unless stated otherwise. Confirm your final bill breakdown before committing to a reservation.
- Kamloops municipal tap water is potable citywide. If booking an older standalone property or a rural rental, check with your host if the water supply is municipal or from a private well, and request bottled water if there is any uncertainty.
- Downtown and highway-adjacent hotels typically charge C$15 to C$25 (approx. US$11 to US$18) per night for on-site parking. Verify exact parking fees during booking, or choose motels outside the city core for complimentary parking options.
- High demand occurs during Thompson Rivers University convocations and Kamloops Blazers home games. These events can fill hotels and increase rates, so secure your room 2 to 4 weeks in advance for these peak weekends.
- Summers in Kamloops are hot and dry, with July highs usually between 27-32°C. Winter brings snow and frequent freeze-thaw cycles, causing road delays that can add 15 to 40 minutes to local trips. Plan accordingly for transfers during these periods.
- Major Canadian carriers deliver reliable LTE coverage within Kamloops city. If your hotel is in surrounding rural areas or river valleys, you may encounter limited mobile data, so download maps offline or enable mobile hotspot access ahead of time.
- Standard Canadian tipping is 15-20% at full-service restaurants. For hotel staff, C$2 to C$5 per use for bell services or housekeeping is customary—tip in local currency for convenience.
