Large bathroom area. Lots of room for wheelchair to move and turn around. Limited furniture (good)¿ again few barriers for wheelchair and medical equipment. Loved the large amount of tile in the room. Carpet is very difficult to roll on.
Setting is excellent with spectacular views of Kootenay Lake. Ideal for quiet and romantic getaway

Ian was very accommodating, very clean room, great location - just all around good experience. We are staying there again on our way back home.
We were stuck at the city because of the freeway closed. Luckily we found this hotel with very reasonable price. The host was very warm and provided our kid with an extra bed, great services! The room is well decorated and quite comfy. Great experiences!
The rooms are far nicer than the outside of the building would suggest. Very friendly staff.

Room was mostly clean. Microwave and fridge were good to have although I did not use it. There were a few plates and cutlery available. Close to restaurants Staff was polite
This hotel is right beside an empty lot, which at night has semi trucks parked in it and they are running all night...the noise does not effect them, but it sure does hotel guests.

Due to the Sandman not having rooms available during our planned stay I grudgingly looked online for other options. Heritage's standard rooms & included breakfast were way better than the Sandman. Looking forward to future stays at the Heritage!

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 4 to 8 weeks before arrival for the widest selection and lower rates. In Creston, summer and harvest seasons (June-September) bring high demand for the town's fewer than 10 chain and independent hotels.
- Compare hotels, motels, and B&Bs on platforms like TripAdvisor or Google Reviews. For boutique and independent properties, read recent guest ratings for cleaning standards, Wi-Fi reliability, and nighttime noise.
- Reserve a rental car or confirm if your hotel offers a shuttle, as rideshare and public transit options are limited throughout Creston and the Kootenays. Having a personal vehicle is key for reaching attractions 2-20 km outside town.
- Verify onsite parking and check if EV chargers are available. EV charging is not standard in Creston hotels, and public chargers are limited; ask your property to confirm station type and restrictions before arrival.
- If you plan to work remotely, confirm your hotel provides in-room high-speed Wi-Fi and adequate cell coverage. Wi-Fi speed and LTE reception may vary, especially in older or rural properties.
- Check standard and early check-in or late checkout times. Small properties in Creston may allow early access or luggage storage by request; contact the hotel in advance to confirm fees or availability.
- Bring a valid government photo ID (passport or driver's license) and your booking card. Hotels routinely place a temporary hold at check-in for incidentals.
- Expect a combined 15-16% in hotel taxes: 5% GST (federal), 8% PST (provincial), and a local 2-3% levy added to your bill. Review your rate breakdown for clarity on all mandatory charges.
- Quiet hours in Creston hotels generally run from 22:00-07:00 to maintain the town’s peaceful character. Limit loud activities and be considerate of neighboring rooms and residential areas.
- Tip 15-20% for table service in restaurants. For hotel bell staff, offer CA$1-2 per bag, and for housekeeping, CA$2-4 per day, reflecting typical Canadian customs.
- Store all food indoors or in bear-resistant containers if picnicking or exploring local trails. Ask hotel staff for current guidelines on wildlife safety; Creston sits near backcountry areas with regular bear activity.
- Ask your hotel’s front desk for up-to-date recommendations covering the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area (7 km from downtown), local markets, and Kootenay wineries. Staff are experienced with the region’s seasonal highlights.
- Solo travelers can select downtown hotels (Main Street area within 750 m of major dining) for improved evening safety and restaurant access. Families should request kitchenettes, cribs, or suites; some hotels provide these features near supermarkets.
- Select properties with a free 24-hour cancellation policy if travel plans are uncertain or for weather flexibility. Many online booking platforms highlight these options at checkout.
- For trips into the U.S. via the Kingsgate border crossing (15 km south), bring a valid passport and required visas or eTA. Check Customs and Border Patrol requirements before travel.
