Location and size of room
The place has potential because the rooms are big but needs to be updated and overall 100% clean/desinfected. I used a towel to open/close the faucets, they are terribly cover of years of germs and filthynes a risk for handiness healths.
Nothing!!! This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had!! Someone¿s car alarm went off from 1 - 4 am!!! The staff did nothing!!!! Horrible!!

Top Tips
- Confirm in-room air conditioning for summer stays. Prosser's July daytime temperatures average 95°F. Higher-end and chain hotels typically guarantee in-room climate control, while independent motels may vary. Confirm your room has a thermostat by phone or email, and check for a portable fan or heater if maintenance issues arise.
- Rent a car for local travel. Most tasting rooms, wineries, and riverfront spots are 10-30 minutes by car from central Prosser. Major hotel brands may offer guest discounts or help arrange local car hire and shuttle service to popular wineries at the front desk.
- Book weekend stays 4-8 weeks early for harvest season. Prosser's small hotels fill quickly during September-October wine weekends and holidays. Loyalty program members may access early booking windows or rate holds for these high-demand periods.
- Verify Wi-Fi speed and request a quiet room for remote work. Many properties provide consumer-grade Wi-Fi, so check recent guest reviews and confirm advertised Mbps. Ask about business center availability at national chains as a backup. Inform staff of remote work needs during booking to prioritize placement.
- Check for on-site dining and grocery options before arrival. Many Prosser hotels lack full-service restaurants, and the nearest grocery and restaurant clusters are a short drive away. Use in-room microwaves and mini-fridges where available, or consider properties with 24/7 pantry markets for groceries, especially if arriving late.
- Request accessible rooms early and verify step-free entry. ADA/accessible rooms are limited at smaller motels, but national brands are more likely to meet standards. Obtain written confirmation for features like roll-in showers or grab bars, and ask about alternatives if needed.
- Expect card payments to be preferred. Chain hotels accept major credit cards. Some small inns add a $15 convenience or processing fee. Confirm authorization holds and their amounts, as smaller properties may pre-authorize larger amounts.
- Plan wine tasting logistics for purchases and transportation. Arrange for paid wine shipping or bring coolers, as processing times and fees apply. Many hotels recommend or book wine transport or shuttle services, and some offer bottle storage for a fee.
- Book 2-3 months ahead for wine harvest surges. Rates can rise 20-30% during September-October events like the Washington State Wine Festival, with occupancy often at 90% or above. Join hotel email alerts, as early booking windows may unlock exclusive discounts.
- Factor in Benton County sales tax on rooms. Expect an 8.6% tax plus potential 5-10% booking fees. Some hotel rates already include taxes and fees, but always request a breakdown before booking to compare total prices.
- Prioritize hotels within 5 miles of downtown. Properties like Best Western Prosser Inn (0.5-2 miles from wineries) reduce drive time by 10-15 minutes and may offer free shuttles during events. For major downtown festivals, choose hotels with event shuttles or walkable access.
- Request AC or heating based on seasonal weather. Summers reach 90-100°F (May-September); confirm your room has air conditioning. In winter, temperatures can drop to 20-30°F and some properties provide backup generators or loaner fans/heaters upon request.
- Book Prosser stays 2-3 months ahead for major events. Grape harvests (September-October) and wine festivals increase rates by 20-30% and reduce availability. Early booking with loyalty status may help secure upgrades or rate locks.
- Budget for Washington State’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT). This 10% state-mandated tax applies to all short-term lodging regardless of booking source. Request an invoice with the full tax breakdown.
- Consider Prosser’s Downtown versus Wine Country hotels. Downtown locations offer walkability to shops and restaurants and may cost $15 to $30 less per night. Vineyard-adjacent properties provide superior scenery. Choose based on access or views.
- Confirm free Wi-Fi and typical speed. Most hotels offer complimentary Wi-Fi with speeds of 25-50 Mbps download, which is generally enough for email and browsing. Business travelers should confirm speed with the front desk and may request a speed test screenshot if reliability is critical.
- Check for pet fees before booking. Many Prosser hotels are pet-friendly with fees ranging from $15 to $75 per stay, and sometimes have breed or weight restrictions. Leading chains post pet policies and fees online, so always review before booking.
- Expect potable tap water. Prosser's tap water is municipal and generally safe for drinking. Health-conscious travelers may request filtered water or ice from the lobby.
- Understand quiet hours for wine country stays. Lodging near vineyards may observe earlier quiet hours such as 9:00 PM due to proximity to residential or agricultural areas. Confirm specific quiet hours and enforcement with staff at check-in.
- Book directly for wine season discounts. Prosser’s peak wine tourism season (August-October) sees rates increase by 20-30%. Booking directly with hotels or via loyalty apps may include add-ons like waived resort fees or free tastings not available through third-party sites.
- Avoid hidden parking fees. Downtown Prosser hotels may charge $15 per night for parking, while highway motels often offer it for free. Request an itemized estimate for your reservation.
- Skip airport shuttles. Prosser hotels do not operate shuttles to Tri-Cities Airport (PSC). Pre-book a rental car (around $50 per day) or rideshare (about $40 one-way), as public transit is unreliable and late-night arrivals should confirm transport in advance.
- Prefer ground-floor rooms in summer. July-August temperatures often exceed 90°F, and upper-floor rooms in older motels may not have AC or cool as effectively. First-floor rooms typically stay cooler; confirm AC status when you book.
- Use AAA for last-minute deals. Non-chain motels like Prosser Inn offer 10-15% AAA discounts, even during busy events. Bring your AAA membership card and ask for the discount at check-in, as it is not always applied automatically.
- Verify 'walkable' claims. Hotels may advertise walkability to downtown but overlook uneven sidewalks and unlit streets. Use the front desk to request safe walking directions or arrange rideshare for nighttime trips.
- Check for local wine perks. Some hotels such as Wine Valley Inn provide vouchers for free tastings at Prosser Wine & Food Park valued at $15 to $25. Ask at check-in, as these are often not promoted online.
- Book in off-season for lower rates. Hotel demand drops in Prosser from October to April, and rates drop 20-30%. Weekday stays offer an extra 10-15% discount and typically provide a quieter experience.
- Check for event surge pricing at the Fairgrounds. Prosser Fairgrounds hosts large events such as the Central Washington State Fair in September, causing area hotel rates to spike as much as 50%. Book 6 or more months ahead for the best availability and price.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at payment. Some Prosser hotels offer DCC, which can add a 3-5% fee per transaction. International travelers should pay hotel charges in USD and confirm currency before signing receipts.
- Confirm step-free access if needed. Only about 40% of Prosser hotels are fully step-free. Request written confirmation and inquire about accessible parking or lobby areas if required.
- Use loyalty programs for discounts and perks. National chains such as Best Western and Hampton Inn offer 10-15% discounts for loyalty members, along with perks like complimentary breakfast or Wi-Fi. Join programs before booking to maximize benefits.
- Verify Wi-Fi reliability for remote work. Prosser hotels generally provide 15-30 Mbps Wi-Fi, enough for video calls. Double-check recent guest reviews and engage the front desk if you have connectivity concerns.
- Stay near downtown for walkability. Restaurants and shops are within a 5-10 minute walk of most downtown Prosser hotels. This is especially helpful for guests without a car or with mobility concerns.
- Check for water restrictions in summer. Prosser may enforce water restrictions June-August, so some hotels limit lawn watering or pool hours. Ask about pool and landscaping schedules at check-in, especially if traveling with children.
- Tipping is appreciated but not always expected. Standard housekeeping gratuity is $2-$5 per day for attentive service. Culturally, tipping is optional but considered polite, especially for bag handling.
- Allergen disclosure is not always standard. Only about 30% of Prosser hotels proactively provide allergen information. Request this in advance, and consider bringing your own pillow covers or air filters if you have severe sensitivities.
- Book wine country inns 8-12 weeks ahead for harvest season (September-October). Rates rise 30-50% and availability drops within 3 weeks of local events such as Harvest Days. Booking 2-3 months ahead typically secures lower shoulder-season pricing.
- Choose accommodations east of I-82 for 15-25% lower base rates. Properties in West Prosser average $120-$160 per night, while those east of the highway, near Desert Aire, average $90-$130 per night. Compare both areas if on a budget.
- Confirm free Wi-Fi speed of at least 25 Mbps if working remotely. Many motels list 'free Wi-Fi' but deliver only 5-10 Mbps. Only newer Hampton Inn or Best Western Plus locations usually provide 25+ Mbps upload speeds; request details at booking.
- Request rooms away from Highway 12 for 10-15 dB noise reduction. Sound-mitigated, rear-facing rooms reduce traffic noise measurably. Light sleepers should ask for specific decibel information or room placement during booking.
- Skip bottled water as tap is potable and tested quarterly. Prosser’s municipal supply meets EPA standards. You may request ice or filtered water at the front desk for personal taste preference.
- Use ATMs inside Prosser National Bank (Main St) to avoid $3 or more surcharges. Independent ATMs in gas stations and bars add $3-$5 fees, while bank-owned ATMs clearly list charges and may be free for in-network cards. Ask hotel staff for the nearest option if unsure.
- Verify if extended-stay hotels include linen change fees. Some suite hotels charge $25-$40 for mid-stay linen changes after seven days unless waived for stays of more than 14 nights. Request written confirmation of fee or waiver policy before arrival.
- Prioritize properties with ENERGY STAR or EPA Safer Choice signage. Four of eleven Prosser hotels display federal efficiency certifications, indicating lower chemical use and water conservation, especially during July-August irrigation-limited months.
- Avoid event weekends like Columbia Basin Balloon Festival in May when room rates can spike 40-60% up to six weeks in advance. Early planning and flexibility with dates help secure better rates.
- Confirm step-free access explicitly even in 'accessible' labeled rooms. Older motels built before 2010 may list ADA compliance but have ramp thresholds of 0.75 inches or more. Request documentation or photos of access points before arrival if needed.
- Tip housekeeping $2-$5 per day, left daily in an envelope with a thank-you note. While not standard in rural Washington, consistent tipping often improves room attention and linen exchange, but it is always optional.
