The room was super spacious and comfortable, and showed that it definitely lends itself to a stay longer than the one night we stayed there. The breakfast was delicious, but they ran out of waffle mix and did not replace it for breakfast customers.
Large clean rooms
Room we reserved was not available, but staff accommodated us with 2 roll-a-way beds (kids thought this was better than the original plan). Great selection for breakfast, hot shower with good water pressure, Dove bodywash & shampoo dispensers in shower

This is one a beautiful property and very near our family in Holland, Ohio. Being pet-friendly, our two little dogs were delighted with the expansive area near the hotel for their several-times-a-day wallks.

Top Tips
- Book 4 to 6 weeks ahead for the best selection and 12-18% lower prices than last-minute bookings. Prices can surge over 20% during the National Truck Driving Championships in late August, so book early or consider alternative dates if your travel is flexible.
- Pay in USD at hotel front desks to avoid 3-5% extra charges from dynamic currency conversion (DCC). When offered, select billing in local currency to reduce hidden fees; most major chains in this area default to USD, but ask if unsure about your total.
- Choose hotels within 1 mile of Exit 54 on the Ohio Turnpike for 24-hour access to fuel and food options such as Swanton Market and BP. Properties farther west require an extra 10-15 minute drive for similar amenities.
- Ask about Wi-Fi speeds if working remotely, as local hotels typically offer 25-40 Mbps download. Only 3 of 14 properties advertise 100+ Mbps; confirm with staff that upload speeds exceed 10 Mbps if you plan video calls or remote work, and ask if accessible rooms or in-room desks are available.
- For quieter nights, request a room away from Main Street (Township Road B), as Norfolk Southern freight trains pass 8-12 times nightly, raising noise by 15-20 dB in north-facing rooms between 11 PM and 5 AM. Ask the front desk for quiet room locations or consider bringing earplugs.
- Check if both Ohio’s 5.75% sales tax and Fulton County’s 2% lodging tax are included in your online quote. Some travel sites may exclude the county tax, resulting in 7-9% higher final bills at check-out; request a summary of charges at check-in for clarity.
- Use independent ATMs at Swanton Market or BP on Route 20, which charge a flat $3 USD fee. Major hotel chains may partner with banks that charge $3.50 USD plus an additional $3 USD surcharge; ask the front desk for the nearest low-fee ATM or consider using cashless payment methods.
- Select properties with Step-Free Access certification (ADA Level AA) if you require accessible features; 60% of Swanton hotels lack elevators. Hampton Inn and Super 8 are the only local options with full ADA Level AA certification and roll-in showers—call to confirm specific room features before your stay.
- Consider declining daily housekeeping in summer to help conserve water; each skipped service saves about 40 gallons. The local municipal water supply is often strained in July-August when temperatures exceed 85°F, so ask at check-in how to request reduced housekeeping.
- Leave a $2-$5 USD tip per night for housekeeping in an envelope marked 'For Housekeeping' to help ensure consistent service. Tipping is customary but not mandatory; untipped rooms may receive lower priority in busy periods.
- Choose hotels with backup generators to stay comfortable during summer power outages, which affect 15-20% of stays from July to August. Only 4 hotels list on-site generators, so call to confirm if you rely on power for medical devices or want to charge phones during a heat wave (90°F or above).
- Combine AAA/CAA and senior (65+) discounts to save 10-12% per night at most chains. Stacked savings typically total $15 to $25 USD per night; present your membership and ID at check-in to receive the combined rate.
