Location and price
The staff
On site staff was okay. Just not nearly sufficient.

Room decor was pleasant.
Staff was friendly and attentive. The hot breakfast exceeded my expectations. The location was terrific, as it was right by the highway, two minutes from the local airport, and 5 minutes from downtown.
I?ve stayed at this hotel numerous times and it?s great for the price. It?s pretty basic but it?s clean and the beds are comfortable. For the price, at least in the winter months, it?s more that fair.

Location, proximity to EVERYTHING, parking, breakfast, were all great. The lobby and dining area were really nice and actually inviting. This is the first hotel where we actually used the dining area. The outdoor patio area was really nice as well.
The way the rooms were set up was very convenient. It was like they thought of all the details.
Rooms were very big and comfortable, staff was welcoming and well prepared for check ins and check outs.

It was beautifully decorated, quiet and private. The staff was amazing and helpful. Location is great - close to 'downtown' but far enough away to feel like you're on an island. Golf carts across street to rent. Parking available too, which was great.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 4-8 weeks ahead for summer weekend stays, or 8-12 weeks for peak holidays such as July 4 and Labor Day. Early booking helps secure better room selection or lower rates, and is essential during local festivals, Cedar Point opening weekends, or fishing tournaments when demand in Port Clinton, the main gateway to Put-in-Bay, Kelleys Island, and Cedar Point, surges.
- Use Port Clinton as your base for a wider hotel selection and take the Jet Express ferry (20-25 minutes) to Put-in-Bay. Mainland stays often include more amenities like onsite breakfast or free parking; check ferry schedules if you expect to travel early or late in the day.
- Confirm boat or trailer parking with your hotel before booking, as many properties have limited trailer space. If you require accessible marina or boat ramp facilities, call ahead to verify available step-free options and whether long-term municipal or paid marina lots permit trailers.
- Review Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) and beach advisories if your visit is in late summer. Major hotel brands may share water quality updates at the front desk, but always check Ohio EPA or local health advisories—especially for families with children or aquatic sports plans.
- Expect shorter business hours off-peak from late October through April, when restaurants, attractions, and hotel front desks reduce schedules. Enjoy onsite lounges or indoor pools where available, and pre-arrange late check-in if arriving after 20:00 for peace of mind.
- Request ground-floor or accessible rooms for step-free entry or lower noise. Port Clinton hotels mostly offer low-rise buildings with limited elevators; reconfirm roll-in shower, visual alarm, or TTY accessibility needs, as major chains typically meet current ADA standards.
- Check weather forecasts for lake microclimate swings: bring EPA-recommended insect repellent in summer and prepare for lake-effect snow in winter, which can boost local accumulation by 30-50%. Use onsite laundry or drying areas after outdoor activities, and pack layered clothing for quick weather changes.
- Request Wi-Fi speed details if you need remote work support. Many Port Clinton properties offer consumer-grade Wi-Fi; major chains may provide business centers or higher-tier Wi-Fi for loyalty members. Bring a cellular hotspot as backup if upload and download speeds are crucial.
- Double-check payment methods and cancellation policies before travel. Small motels may require cash deposits or card pre-authorization, while major brands streamline bookings for loyalty members. International guests should verify card acceptance in advance, especially at independent properties.
- Ask if your hotel offers direct shuttle or walking access to the Jet Express terminal, naming brands when possible. For high-demand weekends, reserve parking early—some downtown hotels are walkable to the terminal, while others require driving and use of paid lots.
