Friendly staff and clean room
The hotel was friendly and the room was clean and neat. However, the suite that we paid for was not what we received. The explanation was someone from the staff earlier had extended our suite which was handicapped to someone else. Very disappointed.

Top Tips
- Staying in Market Square puts you within a 5-15 minute walk (0.1-0.6 mi) of 85-95% of downtown dining, Strawbery Banke Museum, and Prescott Park, helping you save about 15-30 minutes per outing compared to Route 1 hotels. For easier access to key attractions and dining, confirm your hotel’s exact address and walking distances with reception or maps before booking.
- Choosing a hotel along Route 1 or I-95 often means complimentary parking and larger room layouts, while most downtown properties offer historic but smaller rooms and may charge for parking. If parking is essential or you prefer extra space for families or equipment, verify hotel parking and room dimensions before reserving.
- Downtown parking can be limited, so plan for 10-20 minutes to find a space, especially during busy summer weekends, and budget for paid lots or valet service as on-site spaces are scarce. Ask your hotel about accessible parking options in advance if you require step-free or reserved spaces.
- Portsmouth International Airport (PSM) is just a 5-15 minute drive to downtown hotels, while arrivals at Boston Logan (BOS) usually mean 60-90 extra minutes by car, plus tolls and parking fees. For faster transfers, check PSM flights and shuttle or taxi service schedules before booking.
- Summer weekends and festival dates (June-August or during Prescott Park/Strawbery Banke events) often sell out 30-60+ days in advance. Secure better rates and availability by reserving your hotel early, and confirm event schedules for accurate planning.
- For Isles of Shoals or harbor cruise departures, pick a waterfront hotel 0.1-0.4 mi from the docks to reduce transit time and lower the risk of missing your boat, especially during busy summer periods. Reserve tour seats 1-2 weeks in advance and confirm departure location and boarding requirements.
- All shopping in New Hampshire is free of general sales tax, letting you save on retail purchases. However, hotels may still add local room taxes and occupancy fees, so check your total estimated charges during the booking process.
- During winter (November-March), look for hotels with confirmed on-site parking and explicit snow-removal protocols, since nor’easters and heavy snow can make street parking unavailable. If you need accessible or step-free routes in snowy conditions, ask about property policies at reservation.
