best budget motel ive ever stayed at
Great location and less expensive relative to other hotels nearby. This is a very basic hotel. Don't expect much except for a place to sleep. Despite hearing people in their rooms from the hallway, the rooms were quiet.
It was a place to sleep for a fee hours after a long grueling day of travel.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean.
I think the building being smoke and pet free made a difference, it smelled actually good, the mini fridge area was nice, loved the chair in the room and the lighting was great! Loved the dove products.

The bed was great.. It snowed and my car was cleared of snow and did not require shoveling out or clearing when I was ready to leave. I did not expect that.

Top Tips
- No scheduled commercial flights serve Augusta. For air arrivals, use Portland International Jetport (PWM), 65 miles (105 km) away, or Bangor International Airport (BGR), 70-75 miles (113-121 km) away. Both airports require a 70-90 minute drive. Confirm ground transfer times before booking to ensure timely arrival, especially in winter.
- Discover savings of $15 to $30 USD per night by comparing hotel rates in Gardiner, located 3-5 miles (5-8 km) or 6-12 minutes' drive from Augusta’s center. Major chain hotels offer similar amenities, with online rates often lower than central Augusta. Check parking policy differences before reserving.
- During legislative sessions in winter and early summer, hotels near the Maine State House frequently see higher rates and limited rooms. Book weekday stays at least 2-4 weeks in advance to secure a preferred location and avoid last-minute price increases.
- Select hotels offering free onsite parking, especially from December to March. Municipal snow removal restricts curb parking, and downtown lots or meters carry fines for violations. Verify parking access with your hotel during winter months for a smoother check-in.
- For meetings at the Maine State House, choose accommodations within 0.2-0.8 miles (320-1280 m) for a 5-15 minute walk. This minimizes parking congestion and lets you avoid peak morning legislative traffic. Confirm walking route accessibility, especially in snowy weather.
- Many Augusta downtown restaurants close by 9-10 PM outside the summer season. Plan for a 5-12 minute drive to find late-night chain or 24-hour dining on Western Avenue or near the Civic Center. Always confirm restaurant hours upon arrival, as options are limited after 22:00.
- In winter, opt for rooms away from exterior doors for quieter stays and better insulation. Confirm working heating on arrival, as outdoor temperatures regularly fall below freezing and some historic buildings have colder rooms facing the street.
