Location close to what we were doing and along the river. Eagles roosting in the trees and ducks and geese in the water.
Location to surrounding events
The hotel was very organized in it's arrangements in the common areas, as well as very spacious in the room. The view of the river from my room was also a very nice touch. As well as very friendly staff.

Top Tips
- Rates during University of Kansas event weekends routinely surge by 50-75%, and hotels often sell out 30-60 days ahead. Book early to secure your preferred location, especially for home football and major basketball games.
- Amtrak’s Lawrence station is 0.5-1.0 mile from downtown Massachusetts (Mass) Street and about 1 mile from KU campus, giving travelers easy access to central attractions. For late arrivals, check the local taxi or rideshare service availability, as service hours may be limited overnight.
- Staying along Massachusetts Street puts you within 0-0.4 miles of dining, nightlife, and theaters. To minimize weekend noise, request a high-floor room or one facing away from Mass Street when booking.
- Many suburban or chain hotels provide free onsite parking, while downtown properties may rely on city metered lots or paid garages. Always confirm parking type and any daily fees before arrival to avoid unexpected costs.
- Kansas City International (MCI) is the nearest major airport, with a typical 40-50 minute drive to Lawrence. Plan for potential traffic delays and confirm airport transfer services with your hotel if you are arriving late.
- For reliable video calls, newer national-brand hotels (Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt) typically offer strong Wi-Fi. If needed, the Lawrence Public Library provides scheduled study rooms and public Wi-Fi within walking distance of downtown hotels.
- Historic downtown hotels may feature unique architecture but sometimes have accessibility quirks. Call ahead to check for accessible rooms, step-free entry, and an accessible route from the parking area to your room.
- Lawrence’s municipal water is treated to EPA standards, so bring a reusable bottle and fill up safely. Bottled water purchases are rarely necessary unless you prefer it for taste.
- Hotel demand also spikes during KU commencement and major campus conferences, similar to game weekends. Check the KU academic calendar and local event listings, and book 30-60 days early for the widest selection.
