Clean rooms with very dependable Wi-Fi: good breakfast: and I liked the steps we cold take to the 2nd floor instead of the elevator. The workout room was also a plus.

Top Tips
- Drive 10-15 minutes (8-10 miles) to DeKalb for a wider range of chain hotels and business-focused properties. Sycamore’s hotels cluster near the IL-64/Route-23 intersection, providing quick access to downtown. Compare rates in both cities to find the best fit.
- Reserve 30-60 or more days ahead for Northern Illinois University (NIU) move-in, graduation, and home football weekends, when demand surges and availability in both Sycamore and DeKalb drops. Early booking ensures room choice, especially for accessible or connecting rooms. Consider flexible cancellation options during peak periods.
- Expect car dependency as public transit is minimal, with no commuter rail and limited local bus service in Sycamore or DeKalb. Confirm free on-site parking when booking, as most hotels provide it. If you need accessible parking or step-free entry, check directly with the hotel.
- Choose Rockford (RFD) for regional flights (35-45 miles or 45-60 minutes by car), or Chicago O’Hare (ORD) for more nonstop options (60-75 miles or 1-1.5 hours). RFD offers shorter drive times, while ORD provides greater flight variety. RFD has fewer flights per day, so check departure schedules closely if your plans are inflexible, and allow extra time for transfers in winter.
- Prioritize hotels with free on-site parking, which most Sycamore area hotels offer. If arriving after 10-11 p.m., confirm late check-in policies, as some small front desks close early. Call ahead if you expect delays or need accessible check-in assistance.
- Add 20-40 minutes for airport transfers and check-in during winter (December to February). Snow and ice are typical, and rural DeKalb County roads may clear later than interstates. Monitor local weather alerts and allow extra time if traveling in adverse conditions.
- Stay within 0.1-0.5 miles of Sycamore Courthouse Square to be within walking distance of most downtown restaurants. Many close by 9-10 p.m. outside of weekend peaks. For late dining, check kitchen hours in advance or use hotel room service if available.
