There was absolutely nothing to like. The hotel, parking lot, elevator , hallway, and rooms were filthy and extremely smelly. There were roaches and gnats. The staff was very rude and did not help timely with issue like the tv and remote not working.
Location and pool, room was very clean with the exception of the carpet

The staff was the FRIENDLIEST staff I have experienced in the past five years - and we travel a lot. Very clean and a good breakfast selection.
Loved the hot tub suite! The breakfast host was outstanding! Friendly, kept everything stocked, went above the call of duty offering to clear our plates. Best I've seen and I coach customer service for a large health system.
The room was beautiful and comfortable! Breakfast was very well supplied, nice variety. Pool area was clean and appealing. Best of all? Beautiful outdoor dining area overlooking a pond.! The whole place was beautiful and safe. VERY reasonable rates!

The desk clerk was amazing. The first room the hide a bed. The mattress pad was gross. We changed rooms and then that room only had a king bed not two queens so then we got put in another room. The front desk girl forgot to change our room number.
The staff was very nice and the hotel was very clean.
Showed up to check in around 9. No one was at the front desk and had a sign saying desk clerk will be back soon. I waited at leas 15 minutes and rang the bell. No service. In the end I had to skip my pre-paid reservation which is completely unacceptable.

Disgustingly dirty. Roaches and bed bugs. I tried 4 different rooms. Found bugs in each. Hair and blood and dirt on sheets, blankets. Absolutely disgusting. Didnt stay. FYNo breakfast or pool either bc they are renovating they need to bomb the place.

Top Tips
- Stay within 1 mile of the Illinois State Capitol to access Springfield’s main Lincoln sites, including the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, by foot. This approach lets you explore at your own pace and minimizes the need for local transportation.
- Plan for a 15-20 minute (about 8-mile) transfer to downtown from Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (SPI). Check if your hotel offers a free or paid shuttle before traveling, as options and times vary by chain and time of day.
- Book 4-8 weeks in advance if traveling for the Illinois State Fair in late August, since area hotels often sell out and rates can spike. Many chains allow free cancellation; verify your policy for flexibility.
- Weekday demand at Capitol-area hotels rises during Illinois General Assembly sessions (January-May). Reserve your room at least 2-4 weeks early to secure availability and stable rates, especially if visiting for work.
- Choose hotels along I-55 or South Veterans Parkway for generally lower nightly rates and free parking, compared to downtown properties where garages typically cost $15-20 per day. Decide if you prefer quicker interstate access or walkable proximity to attractions.
- Hotels on or near South Veterans Parkway and the downtown Historic Route 66 corridor provide easy access to Route 66 attractions and chain dining, ideal if you’re driving the route. Gas stations in these areas usually have competitive pricing.
- If working remotely, ask the hotel for a recent Wi-Fi speed test (in Mbps) and request a room away from street level to minimize noise. Many top properties also offer dedicated workspaces or business centers for guests.
- Springfield’s tap water is municipally treated and safe to drink. If you have sensitivities or allergies, contact your hotel ahead for details on allergens or cleaning products used.
- Hotel rates near the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum can increase 20-30% during major civic events or historical anniversaries. Booking 6-8 weeks ahead helps secure lower prices and wider availability.
- Union Pacific freight trains operate nightly through downtown Springfield. If staying at a hotel near the tracks, request a quiet room or ask if the property offers 'Quiet Zone' accommodations to reduce potential noise.
- Present your same-day Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library ticket at participating hotels for a 10% discount. Check illinois.gov or ask the hotel to confirm current participating properties when you book.
- Explore free attractions like the Lincoln Home National Historic Site and the Illinois State Museum. Adding these no-cost activities can help you stretch your travel budget.
- Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) fees of 4-7% at checkout by choosing to pay in US Dollars (USD) with your foreign-issued card. You can request a transaction summary before authorizing payment.
- Some hotels labeled 'ADA-compliant' may still have steps at entrances or pool areas. If you need step-free access, request a confirmed 'zero-step entrance' and verify in writing before arrival.
