The second room was mostly clean, coffee filter was all ready to go which I did not like. The clerk could have offered something for my inconvenience.
This location has everything a person would need for an extended stay. Staff was professional and friendly. I was assisted by an employee claiming that it was his first night alone. He ran into a snag when checking me in,but remained calm and apologetic.

The ONLY thing I liked at all was the employee (even though I had to go to the other hotel to find her) working when I checked in.
Absolutely nothing it was such a terrible hotel that after checking into the room my wife checked right back out and did not stay not even one night
The staff was excellent about the taking care of the problems I had with the room not being cleaned at the time I checked in.

Not much besides the cost.
Nothing. Our hotel experience was absolutely terrible. Despite showing up well after check-in time, our room was still not ready when we got there. The room was absolutely disgusting. There was gross food left in the fridge.

Breakfast was good-- it is also pretty clean and they have made efforts at updating but there are still some very raggedy parts (carpet is really stained, though vacuumed).

Top Tips
- Des Moines International Airport (DSM) is 12-15 miles (19-24 km) from central Ankeny, with ride times typically 15-25 minutes. Most Ankeny hotels do not provide airport shuttles; confirm shuttle availability with your property or plan for a rideshare or taxi, which usually runs $25-45 USD one way. If traveling late at night, check driver availability before arrival.
- Many chain hotels in Ankeny offer included onsite parking and breakfast, but these amenities can vary by property. Verify 'free parking' and 'breakfast included' on your booking page to avoid unexpected charges, especially during peak travel periods.
- Rates and availability in Ankeny often tighten 4-8 weeks before large regional events such as the Iowa State Fair (mid-August in Des Moines), with prices rising across metro hotels. Book early for the best choice, especially for weekends or accessible room types.
- Ankeny's hotels, restaurants, and shops are spread along major roads, so plan to drive or use rideshares. Trips from Ankeny to downtown Des Moines generally take 15-25 minutes (12-18 miles; 19-29 km). Accessible sidewalk infrastructure varies, so verify step-free entry if needed when booking.
- For group bookings, most Ankeny hotels have meeting spaces for 10-75 guests. AV, Wi-Fi, and setup fees are often billed separately. Always request an itemized written quote covering room rental, dedicated bandwidth, and all equipment to avoid surprise charges.
- Pet policies vary across Midwest chains, with nightly pet fees ranging $15-50 USD or a flat fee near $75 USD. Call your hotel to confirm pet-friendly room availability, verify fee waiver eligibility for loyalty program status, and ask about local green space access for pets.
- Choose an interior or courtyard-facing room for quieter stays, since many Ankeny hotels are near I-35 and busy roads. Rooms facing away from highways can significantly reduce traffic noise; request these options during booking, especially if you are a light sleeper.
