The best thing about this hotel, was the location. We were able to walk through Helen without getting in our car and driving. The only time we needed the car was when we drove to the zoo.
Location, staff very friendly
It was in a great quiet location, but in walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The river behind the hotel was a big plus. It was so relaxing and comfortable being there. Our room was clean and spacious. Would definitely stay again.

The office was closed when we arrived. I called the # on my reservation and spoke with the owner of the hotel. She had an accident and was not able to come to the office and did not have another employee to assist. We had to find a room at another hotel,

They had a vacancy.
The location is great; a short drive to town and the hotel is perched up on a hill to provide views of the foothills from the backside. The owner and his wife are very nice and hospitable.
I liked nothing, the hotel staff was rude and the room was filthy. I would give this hotel a negative number for a rating if that was an option.

Top Tips
- Reserve accommodations 60 to 90 days before Helen's Oktoberfest (late September to October) and popular fall weekends. Advance booking helps ensure availability, especially for riverfront cabins. Verify cancellation policies during these peak periods, as options can be more limited.
- Expect to pay $75-$200 per booking in cleaning fees at short-term vacation rentals. Compare total stay costs to standard hotel nightly rates, where daily housekeeping is typically included.
- Discover quieter stays with guaranteed free onsite parking by booking 1 to 4 miles outside downtown Helen along GA-75 or GA-17. Downtown lots often reach capacity on weekends and event days; confirm parking details if arriving after 17:00.
- Request accessible or ground-floor rooms in historic downtown inns if step-free access or elevator service is needed, as some properties lack elevators. Confirm availability in advance, especially if traveling with mobility aids or heavy luggage.
- Riverfront rooms offer scenic views but can experience elevated noise after rain or in spring due to increased river flow. Request a room location or orientation that suits your needs, and consider packing earplugs for light sleepers.
- Wi-Fi speeds can be inconsistent in standalone cabins, so check Mbps rates with your provider before confirming. Hotels in nearby Cleveland (6 to 8 miles or 10 to 13 km away) often offer more reliable, business-grade Wi-Fi suitable for remote work.
- Insect activity increases May to September around rivers and cabins. Prioritize listings with screened porches or air conditioning for evening comfort, and bring repellent. If sensitive, check property pest control practices before booking.
- Many 'pet-friendly' cabins charge extra fees, typically $25-$75 per night or $50-$150 per stay. Confirm pet charges and review local leash regulations in parks and public areas before arrival.
- Nonrefundable or stricter cancellation terms apply at most hotels and rentals during Oktoberfest and holidays in Helen. Choose refundable rates or add travel insurance if your plans are uncertain.
